When Calls the Heart Review and Giveaway (FlyBy Blog Promotions)

Disclaimer: This post was sponsored by FlyBy Blog Promotions. I received access to Season 2, episodes 1 and 2 for participation. No other compensation was provided.

About the series: (from media kit)

The series is inspired by Janette Oke’s bestselling book series about the Canadian West. “When Calls the Heart” tells the captivating story of Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow), a young teacher accustomed to her high society life, who receives her first classroom assignment in Coal Valley, a small coal-mining town where life is simple, but often fraught with challenges.

Lori Loughlin plays Abigail Stanton, a wife and mother whose husband, the foreman of the mine, along with a dozen other miners, has just been killed in an explosion. The newly widowed women find their faith is tested when they must go to work in the mines to keep a roof over their heads.

Elizabeth charms most everyone in Coal Valley, except Constable Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing) who believes Thatcher’s wealthy father has doomed the lawman’s career by insisting he be assigned in town to protect the shipping magnate’s daughter. Living in a turn of the century coal town, Elizabeth will have to learn the ways of the frontier if she wishes to thrive in the rural west on her own.

My Review

I never saw When calls the Heart on Hallmark Channel. I normally watch sometimes in the morning for Golden Girls or that home show. Hallmark has a great range of family programming for all ages. When calls the heart reminds me of Little House on the Prairie or Dr. Quinn, Medicine woman.

Season 2 premieres on April 25th, on the Hallmark channel. I did find a website, which has season 1, so I can catch up. The first episode starts out with a trial.

Grace of God DVD and Giveaway (Fly By Blog Promotions)

This post was sponsored by Fly By Blog Promotions. I received a copy of the DVD. No other compensation was provided.

About the film: from media kit

Having lost his faith many years ago, Detective Bill Broadly is called to investigate the disappearance of the local church’s collection plate. As he questions its various church members, rumors swirl as more congregants learn about the theft. When one unexpected church-goer confesses to stealing the funds, the confession resurrects Broadly’s views on God, and helps him see that through faith and belief there really is rebirth and redemption.

You can purchase the DVD at Walmart--either in store or online.

My Review:

I enjoyed watching the movie. I do recommend watching the movie straight through without stopping. I missed a few key parts during the first watch and was confused towards the end. It also didn't help the kids broke my glasses and I couldn't really see the characters, but I heard the plot.  In the movie, some funds goes missing from the church and a detective is called in to help investigate. The treasurer handed out keys to the safe to everyone from various ministries to keep them from coming to him to get in and out the safe.  Some congregants do not want him there. The detective is an unbeliever, who questions God throughout the movie. There was one scene, where he asks someone about forgiveness. If you do something wrong, God forgives you, and you are ok---the logic seems flawed to him. I thought he meant that the people, who stole the money, asked for forgiveness from God, and do not have to come forward in the investigation.

In the end, the thief, was not who I expected and the detective makes a major turnaround towards a member of the church. The movie is a great movie.

WriterInbox Review and Giveaway (Tomoson)

I received a 30 day trial to WriterInbox, in exchange for honest review. WriterInbox send you a daily e-mail of freelance writing jobs from Odesk, Elance, Craigslist, and other websites. I was already a member of Elance prior to membership, but I have learned about Odesk too. I have applied for a few jobs as well, not to mention I took a few qualification tests for both Elance and Odesk.

You can read more information about the jobs, after you click on the link.

I wanted to review WriterInbox because I have wrote books, blogs, and I have a degree in New Media Journalism. I need to find more freelance work to gain additional income since traditional jobs are out right now, for me.

Just be careful though. Read the requirements. Not every job out there is for you. Not every job I have seen on Odesk or Elance, and other websites is on the up and up. For example, I seen one where the poster wanted someone to write their thesis.

You also have plenty of ghostwriting jobs to choose from. Maybe someone needs a screenplay or a resume. Someone is looking for an article on green living or how to use social media in the workplace.

The way WriterInbox works is each morning, you will receive a e-mail, listing daily jobs. The jobs are organized by jobs and then by premiere listings (Odesk, Elance, etc)

You can sign up for a 7 day trial on Writer Inbox. Then, you pay $30 dollars a month for the full subscription.

Get Bats Out Industrial Toilet Plunger Review and Giveaway (Tomoson)

This product contains Amazon Affiliate Links

I received Get Bats Out Industrial Grade Toilet Plunger, in exchange for honest review from Tomoson.

The first plunger, I was sent, was damaged. The box was damaged and the stick was damaged. Not the sponsor's fault. Customer service was excellent and sent me a new one.

I wanted to review the plunger to have my own in this house. The house has 2.5 bathrooms and needs 3 plungers. Nothing like having your toilet backed up and can't find the plunger.

My mother's plunger is on it's last legs. You have to do more labor to get it to work. The plunger part no longer functions. The downstairs potty needs a permanent plunger since it's the mens bathroom and worst bathroom.

Which leaves my bathroom. On those rare occasions, the kids throw a whole roll of tissue down the toilet and other items, I need a good plunger.

Still though, during the time, I had it, the plunger worked well on all three bathroom toilets. The plunger does require a little extra pressure since the plunger is more stronger, if that's the right word, than other plungers.

You can purchase the plunger on Amazon. It is prime eligible.

A lifelong love by Gary Thomas Book Review and Giveaway

This post contains Amazon Affiliate Links.

I received A Lifelong Love: What If Marriage Is about More Than Just Staying Together? in exchange for honest review from Fly By Blog Promotions. The book is written by Gary Thomas.

I wanted to read the book to see how to become a better wife whenever I married again. The book teaches about how to live a sacred marriage, versus any marriage. How to live a spirit-intentioned marriage. The book provides tools needed to inspire you and your spouse. The book consists of 3 parts, 21 chapters. The book also has questions for reflection at the end of each chapter.

With more people getting divorced, such as myself (finally divorced earlier this year), I would love a marriage with God at the forefront versus the background. Thomas said a marriage should share a love of Christ. The more you love God, the more you should love your spouse (p. 27). No matter what material possessions you have or the kids or sex can replace God in a relationship (p. 28).

I also loved p. 35 where Thomas said to think of your wife as God's daughter and God is your father in law. If you disrespect or mistreat your wife, then you will face trouble from daddy.

Finally, on page 41, Thomas said we need to empathize and understand what our spouses are going through--with love--just like God does.  No matter what they are going through, your spouse is still God's son or daughter.

Glen Campbell I'll Be Me Review and Giveaway (FlyBy Blog Promotions)

This post was sponsored by FlyBy Blog Promotions. I received a free preview of the movie in response to the campaign. No other compensation was provided. All Opinions are my own.

About the Movie (from media kit)

In 2011, when Glen Campbell was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, he joined forces with his family to fight the biggest battle of his life. Glen and his wife, Kim, made history by going public with the diagnosis – the first time a major American celebrity would share this experience with the world. The Campbell family then embarked on a short “Goodbye Tour,” but the three-week engagement turned into an emotional and triumphant 151-show nationwide tour de force.

This epic human drama about the undying bond between Glen and Kim, and their unwavering caring for each other, chronicles a story of love, resilience and the power of song.

GLEN CAMPBELL…I’LL BE ME is the true tale of how America’s greatest country star would not give up his music or his family, against all odds.

The film features those who know and love Glen, including Bruce Springsteen, Bill Clinton, The Edge, Paul McCartney, Jay Leno, Vince Gill, Jimmy Webb, Blake Shelton, Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Steve Martin, Chad Smith and Taylor Swift among many others. Rare vintage footage and extraordinary new performances of Glen’s most beloved hits immerse this moving cinematic account in the overwhelming talent of this humble family man. With joy and a tireless sense of humor, Glen and his family live each moment in the present while preparing for the future, all while playing their music to sold out venues on a star spangled voyage spanning the country from Carnegie Hall to the Hollywood Bowl.

The movie was produced by who produced Walk The Line

My Review

The movie is a documentary about Glen Campbell, who has Alzheimer's. The movie features clips from his performances, family, and friends. You also see Campbell in the beginning, watching the movie with this current wife, and she has to remind Campbell who was who in the movie.

From a caregiver perspective, I was touched. I have two special needs kids, who require me to change diapers, button and zip clothes, tie shoes, bathe, etc. His wife was smiling. I don't know what she was going through mentally, but she was still smiling on the outside.

You also see footage of Campbell during medical treatment, such as taking an MRI or talking with his doctor or talking with his wife, while waiting on treatment.

Dolphin Tale 2 Sponsored Post and Giveaway (FlyBy Blog Promotion)

This post was sponsored by Fly By Blog Promotions. I received a promo pack in exchange for participation. The promo pack contained a Dolphin Tale 2 shirt and sunglasses.

The #DolphinTale2 movie is out today for #HomeschoolDay2014.

About the Movie (from media kit)

Inspired by true events, Dolphin Tale 2 continues the story of the brave dolphin Winter, whose miraculous rescue and recovery—thanks to a groundbreaking prosthetic tail—made her a symbol of hope and perseverance to people around the world and inspired the 2011 family hit movie “Dolphin Tale.” This film reunites the entire main cast, led by Harry Connick Jr., Oscar winner Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd, Kris Kristofferson, and of course, the remarkable dolphin Winter as herself. Champion surfer Bethany Hamilton, who has been an example of courage, also appears in the film.

It has been several years since young Sawyer Nelson and the dedicated team at the Clearwater Marine Hospital, headed by Dr. Clay Haskett, rescued Winter. With the help of Dr. Cameron McCarthy, who developed a unique prosthetic tail for the injured dolphin, they were able to save her life. Yet their fight is not over. Winter’s surrogate mother, the very elderly dolphin Panama, has passed away, leaving Winter without the only pool mate she has ever known. However, the loss of Panama may have greater repercussions for Winter, who, according to USDA regulations, cannot be housed alone, as dolphins’ social behavior requires them to be paired with other dolphins. Time is running out to find a companion for her before the team at Clearwater loses their beloved Winter to another aquarium.

The Reverend Wade (Ray Liotta) and his wife (Ashley Judd) are sure their adopted son has been gifted and called by God to be a preacher. But Ryan challenges his parent’s vision for his life, and unflinchingly chooses to launch his own music career with his best friend (Seth Green).

Encouraged by his wife (Erin Cottrell) and employer (Joe Pantoliano), Ryan embarks on an unpredictable, provocative path - performing the legendary music of Drecel Hemsley in sold out venues all across the country. Frequently Asked Questions

I chose the reusable because I already had used the disposable. For the reusable soft cups, you simply wash between bathroom stops, reinsert, and dispose at the end of your cycle. Retrieval does get messy, depending on your flow. I recommend placing a piece of tissue paper or towel near the sink, and keep water running nearby. You can remove, place on towel, clean yourself up, wash the cup, and reinsert.

For the disposable soft cups, you simply dispose after the cup is filled. You can also order a sample pack for $2.50 online.

Instead Softcups 12 Hour Feminine Protection,14 Count (Amazon Disposable Cups, sold in 1, 2, or 3 packs. Add-on only OR Subscribe and Save. Not prime eligible)

How to use Softcups.

My Review:

I enjoyed using the softcups again. Because of my cycle, I was able to wear the cups for 5 hours maximum. For additional protection, I wear a pad or panty liner still. The cups are easy to insert and easy to remove. I washed the cups between changes using a light soap and water. A feminine soap would work as well.

The only issue I had was the cups had developed an odor. Do not smell the cup after washing it after day 5 or 6 goes by. My last two cycles lasted 7 to 10 days. I would recommend not wearing the cups this long, but opt for using two cups.

I read Must-Have Marvin! (Shine Bright Kids series), in exchange for honest review from FlyBy Blog Promotions. The book was written by Christy Ziglar and illustrated by Luanne Marten. The book was published by Ideals Childrens Books. The book is also part of the Shine Bright Kids series.

About Must Have Marvin

Must Have Marvin is the second book in the Shine Bright Kids series. The book teaches kids how friendships have more importance than material things.

About Shine Bright Kids (from Media Kit)

Choose Right. Shine Bright.

The Shine Bright Kids series provides children and their families with a framework to teach the importance of making good choices. The principles that will be explored include: using good judgment, taking responsibility, having a positive attitude, and demonstrating perseverance.

About the Author: Christy Ziglar (from media kit)

Christy Ziglar, financial planner, mother of twins and niece of legendary motivator and the world’s original optimist, Zig Ziglar, is bringing the same timeless wisdom and ageless advice to an entirely new, younger audience through her new Shine Bright Kids picture book series.

About the Illustrator: Luanne Marten

Thanks to her first-grade teacher, who recognized her superior skills in drawing a robin, Luanne Marten has been drawing, painting, and sketching ever since. She is a great experimenter and has a fresh, whimsical approach that brings her characters to life.

My Review:

The book was a short read about Marvin, who wanted everything he saw, immediately. He put his material possessions before his friendships. He has to learn to value friendships more than new clothes or a new robot. Kalen loved the book. He ran off with the book, shortly after I read it to him, and started flipping through the pages.
