Lazarus Awakening (Blogging for Books)

Disclaimer: This post contains Amazon Affiliate Links.

I received Lazarus Awakening DVD Study Pack: Finding Your Place in the Heart of God, in exchange for honest review. The pack came with the book and DVD accompaniment. The book was written by Joanna Weaver. The book is about letting go of false beliefs and habits. What sets this book apart from other study guides is :

  1. You have room to write notes.
  2. The bible verses for the reference passages are included at the back of the book. If you forgot your bible, you can still read along.
  3. You have study questions for both the book and fill in the blanks questions for the dvd guide.
  4. You have space at the back of the book for writing notes if you run out of room.
Each chapter also has a make a plan section, which you write down areas of your life, which needs improvement and developing a plan to break free. For example, I struggle with prayer, obedience, and service. For service, I would love to volunteer more at church, especially the media ministry, but I don't have transportation to get to and from any trainings whenever that is. Now my church is taking volunteers for the media ministry. I just have to email for more information, but I hate to volunteer and the hours available are when I need to get the kids off the bus. I could walk to church though. Take about 30 minutes or so. I can use the training to help out my church plus adds experience to my resume. c

You also can buy Lazarus Awakening Study Guide: Finding Your Place in the Heart of God in paperback or Kindle without the DVD. The DVD pack or solo study guide is prime-eligible.

#TheRhythmTree Autism and Special Needs Music Therapy Program DVD

Disclaimer: This post contains Amazon Affiliate links.

I recieved Autism & Special Needs DVD and CD : PERFECT FOR PARENTS, EDUCATORS AND THERAPISTS - Developed by a Music Therapist, in exchange for honest review from Tomoson. The DVD was created by Ryan Judd, a certified music therapist.

I wanted this because I do have two kids with autism, in addition to other diagnoses. My kids love music. Both kids also love to dance along to certain songs. I have videos of Kalen dancing to Lecrae, Lyfe Jennings, Bruno Mars, and the Austin and Ally theme song.

Both kids have also used music in various therapies and in church.

Judd teaches how music can help kids improve skills, no matter if parents can sing or not. The key is to have fun with your kids. In the video, Judd has children participate along via instruments (maracas, tapping sticks, and tambourines) and movement, such as jumping, crawling,  hi-fives and balancing on the left and right leg. He also has some counting in the songs. There is also a cd with all 9 songs from the DVD.

Judd also provides tips on prompts and how to respond to children in therapy. He also provides tips on how to make homemade instruments, such as drums, rubber band harps,  and sandpaper blocks. ]

You can purchase the DVD on Amazon, using the link above. The Dvd is prime-eligible.

Grace of God DVD and Giveaway (Fly By Blog Promotions)

This post was sponsored by Fly By Blog Promotions. I received a copy of the DVD. No other compensation was provided.

About the film: from media kit

Having lost his faith many years ago, Detective Bill Broadly is called to investigate the disappearance of the local church’s collection plate. As he questions its various church members, rumors swirl as more congregants learn about the theft. When one unexpected church-goer confesses to stealing the funds, the confession resurrects Broadly’s views on God, and helps him see that through faith and belief there really is rebirth and redemption.

You can purchase the DVD at Walmart--either in store or online.

My Review:

I enjoyed watching the movie. I do recommend watching the movie straight through without stopping. I missed a few key parts during the first watch and was confused towards the end. It also didn't help the kids broke my glasses and I couldn't really see the characters, but I heard the plot.  In the movie, some funds goes missing from the church and a detective is called in to help investigate. The treasurer handed out keys to the safe to everyone from various ministries to keep them from coming to him to get in and out the safe.  Some congregants do not want him there. The detective is an unbeliever, who questions God throughout the movie. There was one scene, where he asks someone about forgiveness. If you do something wrong, God forgives you, and you are ok---the logic seems flawed to him. I thought he meant that the people, who stole the money, asked for forgiveness from God, and do not have to come forward in the investigation.

In the end, the thief, was not who I expected and the detective makes a major turnaround towards a member of the church. The movie is a great movie.

SalsaCrazy Learn to Dance Merengue DVD Review (Tomoson)

Disclaimer: This post contains Amazon Affiliate Links and Images

I received Learn to Dance Merengue Beginning and Intermediate, in exchange for honest review from Tomoson. The collection comes with one DVD. The DVD is taught by Alison Hurwitz and Jesus Ortiz.

The video teaches the basic steps before it moves into the beginner and   intermediate lessons. First, the video teaches the history of merengue.  The dance originated in the Dominican Republic. Started out as a dance for the peasant class, Merengue also has been used in political commentary and social expression.

The video teaches you the steps from multiple positions. The video also teaches you mistakes to make, such as not to bounce. And to hit the floor with the ball of your foot and not the heel. Hurwitz also says most of the action occurs downstairs or the hips and below. You also learn how to bend your knees properly.

The video is great for an amateur dancer like me, who lacks rhythm. I can take my time learning the steps versus being rushed into the more advanced steps.

You can purchase Learn to Dance Merengue, along with other Dance Crazy, Salsa Crazy, and Bachata Crazy DVDS on Amazon. You can learn to waltz, salsa, bachata, and even salsa workout.  The DVD (s) is prime-eligible

Susie's Hope DVD Review and Giveaway (FlyBy Blog Promotions)

This post is sponsored by FlyBy Blog Promotions. I received a copy of Susie's Hope for participation. No other compensation was provided

About the Movie: (From media kit)

Based on the true story that successfully passed Susie’s Law in North Carolina, which seeks stricter punishment for animal abusers, Susie’s Hope brings to life the inspirational relationship between pit bull attack survivor Donna Lawrence and Susie, a pit bull-mix puppy found beaten, burned and left for dead. Recognizing reflect and abuse were to blame for the tragic attack that nearly claimed her life 10 months earlier, Donna resumes the battered animal and accepts her as family. Together, they learn to heal, love and forgive as thyey lead a historic effort to seek justice and protection, not only for Susie, but all animals. Starring Emmanuelle Vaguer (40 Days and 40 Nights), Burgess Jenkins (Remember The Titans) and Andrea Powell (Ender’s Game, The Twighlight: Breaking Dawn Saga: Part 2), Susie’s Hope is an incredible story of love, loss and redemption.

About Susie (From media kit)

Susie was found nearly dead in Greenfield Park in Greensboro, North Carolina on August 20, 2009. Just a puppy, Susie had licked the face of her owner’s newborn baby. Her owner became violent—she was beaten so severely her jaw was broken. That wasn’t enough, though. She was then set on fire and left for dead. Incredibly and against all odds Susie survived. Donna Lawrence adopted her two months later. Susie is now a trained therapy dog and event won the American Humane Association’s American Hero Dog this year!

My Review

The movie was better than expected. The movie started with a couple, who was expecting a newborn. The husband was painting the nursery, while wife glowed with anticipation. I have not finished the full movie yet, just bits and pieces, thanks to Brad and Kalen. More to come when they go to sleep tonight.

What's in the Bible DVD Review and Giveaway (Fly By Blog Promotions)

I received a copy of What's in the Bible, in exchange for honest review from Fly By Blog Promotions. I received Volume 10: Jesus is Good News. Volume 10 focused on the four gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

The series was created by Phil Vischer, one of the creators of Veggie Tales. I knew some of the puppet voices sounded familiar. :-). Instead of focusing on Bob and Larry, followed by a 3D story, What's in the Bible was hosted by Vischer and supported by the puppets. The puppets sang songs and asked questions. As Vischer is telling the bible stories, a cartoon is visualizing the story.

First, Vischer and his puppet cast focused on the differences between the Old and New Testament. Vischer discussed how the NT fulfilled the promises of the OT. He discussed the fulfillment of time, the 400 year gap between the OT and the NT.

The DVD also discussed the similarities between Matthew, Mark, and Luke. How these three gospels focused on the birth of Christ, while John focused on Jesus's ministry.

Now, since this is volume 10, Vischer and the puppets referenced earlier DVDs. I recommend starting a volume 1 because I want to see the OT too.

You can buy the dvds individually, in sets, or the entire collection on the What's in the Bible website.

Missy Mila Volume 2: Twisted Tales Review and Giveaway (Tomoson)

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

I reviewed Missy Mila Volume 2: Twisted Tales, in response to a campaign on Tomoson, sponsored by Organa. Mila is a 8 year old girl, living in France, who loves to tell stories. I wanted to review the collection for my kids and great-niece. The brats need good family-oriented movies to watch, instead of the usual Sponge Bob or Jake and the Neverland Pirates or Dora. Love them but Stacie needs a break sometimes :-)

Video Review

I loved Toadette the Frog and Prince Gabo the most.

Toddler Reactions

My son and great-niece watching the movie.

The movie is 12.50 on Organa.com

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Copy Kids (Eat fruits and veggies) DVD Product Review (Tomoson)

photo taken from www.copy-kids.com
Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

About Copy Kids

I reviewed Copy Kids, in response to a campaign on Tomoson. Copy Kids is a DVD, which encourages kids to eat their fruits and vegetables.

Instead of providing a cartoon or a lecture format, the DVD presented kids trying out and playing with12 different fruits and veggies:

  1. Bell Pepper
  2. Carrots
  3. Raspberries
  4. Broccoli
  5. Bananas
  6. Strawberries
  7. Tomatoes
  8. Cucumber
  9. Oranges
  10. Avocado
  11. Apples
  12. Blueberries.
Each fruit or veggie has their own chapter on the video. Each chapter is 6 to 8 minutes long. You can watch the kids reactions to trying out new foods.

My Review:

I loved the video. I watched it with the kids. My oldest went back to watching tv shortly after. My two-year old was giggling at the babies. The video reminded me of when Kalen was starting new foods. We tried a different food every few days. Some he liked. Some he did not like.

I also loved how the video focused on the kids and food. It has no narration. Just kids being kids, eating and playing with nutritious food. Messy faces, Stained Clothes, and all. The video was also funny. One of the funniest clips was Mattea eating an avocado. She was eating and smacking away. Such a cutie

Finally, the video includes extras. One of the extras is Dr. Jay Gordon discussing nutrition. The other extra is the video outtakes.

The video is 19.95 on the Copy Kids website.
