I don't like you (but can't leave you alone) (my rambling post).

I had two instances, which stood out, where someone told me a group of people did not like me, for whatever reason. A few years ago, 2009, I had just had a miscarriage. My emotions was on a roller coaster. I was in post partum depression, but no one knew about it.  A man, (one-night stand) told me that everyone (one of the social groups I was in/am in) did not like me because I was too sexual (which I was). I was not sure what his intended effect was, but it hurt me more. Normally, this would not bother me because I am an introvert, but my emotions was already messed up. This man didn't know what I was going through mentally and physically, but he felt the need to instant message me. Like, I said, he was a one-night stand. We rarely communicated. The funny part was--at one of the next events--he felt the need to try to strike up a conversation with me and my guest. If you don't like me, leave me alone. Don't pretend when we are around mutual friends and/or family. Don't act like we are like this (++), when we are like this (___________) (That looks like a flat line, don't it :-))

Another incident happened either last year or the year before. A relative told me other relatives did not like me. Now, I am older, wiser, and will take less BS in my life. I am not going to let anyone talk to me any kind of way or do whatever, and not say something back. Yet, the same relatives, who do not like me, come to me, when they need money, computer help, tax help, or something printed out.

The introvert in me, never understood that. If I don't like someone--or Don't want to be bothered--I cut that relationship off. I delete numbers. I remove people from my social media friend lists. I leave them alone. I don't ask them for anything. I don't maintain contact. I don't feel comfortable contacting someone, who I don't like, for whatever reason. I don't like you, but I need you. I can always find someone, even on Craigslist, to complete the task/job/assignment.

For example, my niece, told me she don't want me watching my great niece--for some reason, which had nothing to do with me. Last year, my great-niece crawled down the hallway. Not sure, who was watching her. I was in my room, dealing with my kids, and didn't realize she was in the room, until she bumped her head. She bumped her head and broke a tooth. Some relatives are blaming me for this incident, but not the person, who was supposed to be watching her. I got special needs kids. During meltdown modes, I just don't notice everything. I am trying to calm a kid down. YET, every time I turn around, my great niece has crawled into my room to play OR someone, brings her in here. If you don't want me to watch her, then you will ensure that does not happen. If you don't like me, avoid me. We will be like this (<------- ------->). This is my rambling post. Thought about this for a while, but now I have written it down :-). Have a blessed night.

Sweet Sanctuary Book Review

I reviewed Sweet Sanctuary, in exchange for review from LitFuse. The book was written by Kim Vogel Sawyer and published by Bethany House.

About the author: (Copied from Litfuse)
Kim Vogel Sawyer is the author of twenty-one novels, including several CBA and ECPA bestsellers. Her books have won the ACFW Book of the Year Award, the Gayle Wilson Award of Excellence, and the Inspirational Readers Choice Award. Kim is active in her church, where she leads women's fellowship and participates in both voice and bell choirs. In her spare time, she enjoys drama, quilting, and calligraphy. Kim and her husband, Don, reside in central Kansas, and have three daughters and nine grandchildren.

About the book: (paraphrased from Litfuse)

The book is about Lydia, who wants to find a safe haven for her son, Nicky. Nicky's father is drug-addicted and wants his son back. Dr. Micah, 36 years old,  Nicky's "father", on the other hand, works in Queens, New York, but has a secret mission. Both Lydia and Micah work together to find Nicky a safe place to go.

My Review of the first few chapters.

First, the book is Christian-based. I am also a reviewer for Bethany House. I love their books. I chose this book because I felt for the mother and her son. Lydia wanted to keep her son safe. I want to do the same for my boys. I want to keep Brad and Kalen safe, secure, and free from harm.  Lydia also comes from a wealthy family.

The book starts out with a letter to Micah, from Lydia' father, concerning Lydia and her son. Lydia was a nurse at an army base. , who left without explanation. The letter wanted Micah to care for and provide for his son. Micah has two weeks to respond to the letter or legal action will be taken by Lydia's family. Micah did not believe Nicky was his son and wondered why Lydia had told her parents he was. Nicky was a toddler, when the letter was written. Micah was also dealing with his brother's troubles. Micah decided to travel to Boston to handle this situation. The story gets real interesting after this: Micah gets to Boston; has an interesting conversation with Nicky, and then re-meets Lydia. Lydia had no idea Micah had received a letter from her father, let alone advance knowledge of his visit. Micah is not really Nicky's father, but Lydia's father still wanted him to take responsibility. If you keep reading the book, lies will be uncovered. Why does Lydia's father want Micah to take responsibility for Nicky? Is this why Lydia's father sent for him? What major lie is Lydia hiding from Nicky? Who is Nicky's real father?

This was the start of a great book (first 40 or so pages on my e-reader). I have not finished the book yet, but this is a good book.

RedWeek.com Review--Renting and buying timeshares

I reviewed RedWeek, in exchange for honest review. I applied for the promotion through Tomoson and the promoter was Redweek.com. Redweek provided me with a free, 1 year membership to browse the site and learn how it works. I also an contact timeshare owners, if I want to rent a timeshare for my next vacation.

About RedWeek: (paraphased from RedWeek.com).

The website was founded by Randy Conrads. He wanted to develop a reputable, do-it-yourself timeshare rental and resale marketplace. The website was launched in 2002. RedWeek is the largest, online timeshare marketplace, with more than 1.5 million registered users. The website also has an A+ Better Business Bureau Rating. The website has resort ratings, reviews, and information. People can also browse postings, in addition to buying and selling timeshares. Membership is currently $14.99 for 12 months and is required to add a rental or resale posting, or to contact an owner about a posting. Rental postings are $24.99 for 6 months, and resale postings are $59.99 for 12 months.

Next, the website has frequently asked questions. The website also has a resources section. The section discusses the following:

  1. buying and selling timeshares
  2. Renting timeshares
  3. Timeshare tools
  4. Pros and Cons of buying a timeshare
  5. timeshares versus hotels
  6. Blogs
  7. Tax aspects of renting and selling a timeshare
  8. Videos
Things I learnt from the website:
The site is self-service. If I want a timeshare, I negotiate directly between the owner. The website also recommends setting up an escrow service for payments, especially if a dispute occurs. I also can search for a timeshare by location or by needs. The website posts timeshare information and resources, but the timeshares purchases and rentals are done directly between individuals and owners. There is no middle man. I also like how I am buying real property, with a deed, (for buying). I can transfer the property to my children, when deceased. I can also rent and sell, similar to buying and renting a house. I also learned I can exchange my timeshare for another resort. Next, I liked how the timeshares are furnished. I also learned the timeshare owners has to pay maintenance fees, even if they don't use the resort that year. I have never did a timeshare before. Not quite sure how they work, but the website provided valuable information to aid my future vacation plans. I have two special needs children and I am always looking for places, friendly to them.

Navigating the site:
I did a search for timeshare rentals by location. I started with Houston first, but the search came up empty. I tried Texas next and the search still came up empty. I also tried Georgia, since my kids have relatives there and got a hit. I got a list of cities. The cities were color coded by rentals, resales, and exchanges. Georgia had four places, which had rentals. I clicked on the city of Helen. Helen had three places, with timeshare rentals. Some even rented by the night.
The Loreley

The Loreley rents for $68 to $71 per night. The Alpine, on the other hand, has two for sale for $499 to $975. The website also allows individuals to post reviews. I also did a search for kid-friendly resorts. The website had over 400 resorts listed in this category.
The Alpine

Advantages of a membership to
  1. Marketplace for timeshare rentals
  2. Cost advantage of a timeshare rental (accommodations, resort ammenities).
Giveaway:
The company is providing a free two-year membership for readers of Perfect Chaos. To enter, the contest:

Tomoson/RedWeek Requirements:
  1. you will need to like both facebook pages or follow both twitter pages (if you do not have Facebook). You will also need to leave a comment discussing something you learned from Redweek's website
My requirements:
  1. Either follow me on twitter, like Perfect Chaos on Facebook, or subscribe to the blog.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

What's Your Mark Book Review

I read What's your Mark, in exchange for review from BookSneeze.  I have the paperback version. The book is written by Jeremy Cowart and published by Zondervan Press.

The book discusses people, who made a mark on the world. Their lives have also been changed by Jesus. I chose this book because I loved the description and the cover was beautiful. I started reading the book as soon as I got it in the mail.

Also, after each story, the author has a chapter from Mark. So, you can learn about someone, get inspired, and then read the bible. yay.

I review for BookSneeze®Let me tell you about the cover. It is a beautiful frame, with a silver, mirror-material in the middle. You can see yourself through the mirror. Maybe, you can ask "what's my mark", while looking at yourself. The photos throughout the book are amazing too.

The first story talks about a woman, who uses twitter for social good. The woman works for Twitter too.  Instead of twitting random nothings, she tweets things, which will help people. For example, she posted about an orphanage, she visited. She posted about the good things, the orphanage was doing. She also posted on how people can help orphans. She also teaches people how to use twitter for good. What we tweet can affect others and how others feel about us.

Another story, was about a photographer, who used photography as a way to connect with others. She uses photography to see the light in others, to put focus on them, instead of her. The next story, focuses on a Christian hip-hop artist. He also started a non-profit. The book presents 21 stories of people, who made their mark on the world, including a husband and wife team, who had a successful tv series on the bible. The book is available in paperback (11.99 at time of posting) and kindle (1.99 at time of this posting).

Tales of the Defended Ones Book Review

I reviewed Tales of the Defended Ones, in exchange for honest review from Litfuse. The book was written by Beth Guckenburger and published by Standard Publishing. I received a paperback version of the book.

About the book (From Litfuse's website)

Ben and Joseph lose their mothers, but find a family looking just for them. Antonio is rescued from what seems like a hopeless situation. Caitlyn dares to trust that truth will set her free. Jorani is delivered from slavery into the arms of grace.

Follow these real-life stories as they take you on a journey to foreign places and extreme struggles. Travel through their challenges and see the hand of the great Storyweaver – our Defender God shielding and defending the defenseless in the amazing ways only he can. These are the tales of the ones left wounded and weak-ones made whole and strong . .

About the author (From Litfuse's website: )

Beth Guckenberger and her husband, Todd, are the founders of Back2Back Ministries which communicates a lifestyle of service by sharing the love of Christ and serving God through service to others. Guckenberger travels and speaks regularly at women’s and missions conferences, as well as youth gatherings and church services. In addition to her children’s releases in the Storyweaver series, Guckenberger has written two mission-minded books. She has also partnered with Standard Publishing on the mission content in its 2013 VBS program. The Guckenberger family lives and serves in Monterrey, Mexico

My Review:

I started reading the book today, uninterrupted for about an hour or so. I was halfway through the book before I realized it. The book talked about God's love through adoptions and mission work. The children faced real struggles at an early age. Death of parents and abuse was covered in the first three stories. I chose the book because I loved the description. I am also reviewing more Christian-based books. I wasn't sure of the book at first, but I am glad I was selected for the blog tour I was completely moved by the time, I got to Antonio's story. Ben and Joseph's story was first. They was adopted from Africa. Ben's mother had tuberculosis. Ben also was malnourished. Joseph's mother was pregnant and worked for an elderly lady. She went into labor, headed to a clinic to deliver the baby, and died during child birth. She left Joseph with her employer, but after a week of not hearing from Joseph's mama, the employer took Joseph to the orphanage. Both boys were adopted by the same family

My emotions took a turn for the worse, when I read Antonio's story next. I was in tears. Antonio lived in Mexico. He had epilepsy (with seizures). I used to have seizures, in addition to both of my sons having seizures (Brad grew out of his, Kalen still has them). Antonio's mother had no support because people avoided her. Antonio was also kicked out of school because his teacher could not handle his disorder. His father was not around much--then he died. His mother was also facing cancer. She was worried that when she died, no one would care for her son. She also thought about taking Antonio to heaven with her. An neighbor noticed Antonio and called a case worker. The case worker called a home, which took in kids, no one else wanted--especially those with mental and physical disabilities. I cried when I read how the mother wanted to take Antonio to heaven with her because no one wanted to care for her child. As a mother of special needs children, I was hurt, sad, and definitely empathetic. I hope that when I die, my kids will not be split up and will have a happy home. My family offers little support and their father offers little support.

Next, I read the story of Caitlyn. She was bullied at school. She was being abused, but protective of her mother. Behavioral problems also occurred. She did not want to be taken away from her mother. Her mother's boyfriend was beating her. Her mother was pregnant and on drugs. Her brother was born with drugs in his system. Her brother was taken away, when he was born because of the addiction. both siblings were adopted by the same family.

Finally, the book talked about Jorani. Jorani, who was a girl, lived in Cambodia, in a river village. Her parents died in a traffic accident, months prior. She and her sisters lived with Grandma, who was ailing, and Jorani had to help care for the younger ones. She took on small jobs to help feed her siblings. Jourani heard about a jobs, in the city; went to inquire about one, and he started her into child slavery. When she was no longer useful, she was homeless. Her granny started feeling better and started searching for her granddaughter. Jourani's story had a beautiful ending.

At the end of each story, the author provided a space for you to journal your thoughts and answer a question. This would be great for small group studies. The book is also written in easy-to-understand language. This book was a quick read because I was so engrossed in the story. The author also provides an interview with Joseph and Ben, at the end of the book.
