Dream Lifter Tripod Review (Tomoson)

Disclaimer: This post contains Amazon Affiliate Links.

I received the Dream Lifter Tripod, in exchange for honest review from Tomoson. The tripod came with the tripod plus an adapter for your phone. The tripod also comes with a carrying case.

I wanted to try out the tripod to help with blogging and in the case of someone needing me to cover a live event. I have a tripod for my camcorder, but it is not compatible with a phone adapter.

First, the tripod adjusts in multiple places. You can adjust the legs three times (4 sections on each leg). Each section of the legs also can lock into place.

You also can adjust the height of the middle section. If you twist the screw near the top of the legs, you can adjust the height of the tripod more. Once you have the height desired, you can lock the middle section into place.

I do wish there was a lock for the bracket between the legs though. The tripod can be a bit wobbly if you fully extend it out. a bracket lock would help stabilize the tripod more.

Next, you can adjust the shoe height with the screw next to it. This screw also locks into place once tightened.   The top adapter piece (show plus lever portion) also can be removed for easy storage, if you unscrew the section

Last, the tripod is light-weight and easy to carry. You can toss the tripod in your bag for your photography and video needs. My camcorder tripod is heavier and larger, making it not easy to carry and set up at times. I also like the built in level on the shoe.

You can purchase the tripod using the link above. The tripod is prime-eligible.

Close ups and Close Encounters Book Review

SJ-Brown-Banner.jpg

I read Close ups and Close Encounters, in exchange for review from Celestial Book Promotions. The book was written by S.J. Brown.

My review:

I chose this book because it was photography. I never reviewed a photography book before and thought it would be interesting to do so. The book displays pictures of animals, along with the story of how SJ captured the animals. The author first discussed how she got into photography after watching a tv special. Within a few days, SJ bought a camera and film, and started taking photographs of animals in the backyard. She learned how to work a camera and how to photograph an animal from different angles. One thing I loved was when the author wrote how she liked to get close up on the animals, to peer into their souls.

I did love the picture of the butterfly and the fox hiding in the woods. I also loved the picture of the black bear.  The stories are descriptive, graphic, and makes you feel like you was there with SJ capturing the animals. This is a great book to incorporate into a science class or home school curriculum.

Media Kit Information:

On a whim, S. J. Brown decided to embark on a career in wildlife photography. Armed with an inexpensive 35mm camera and a love for the natural world, her adventure began. Accompanied by her spotter and husband, she ventured to a variety of locations.

The couple soon learned that there was more to this than just camera settings, lighting, and getting the right angle. Not all wildlife is agreeable to having their picture taken, and many are not easily accessible.

Camera in hand, S. J. Brown encountered delicate butterflies, bears, birds, deer, wild horses, and more. Along the way, there are successes and failures, cooperative critters, curious subjects, and some close calls.

As a wildlife photographer S. J. Brown took her cues from her subjects. Their body language let her know when to step in for a closer shot and when to back away. When she was out in the field, she strove to observe and record not to interfere. The exception to this rule is when people pose a threat to wildlife; then she will take time to relocate a road dwelling critter to its location. Brown has saved snapper turtles from soup and other creatures from the taunts and teases of unwise humans, but she will not interfere with Mother Nature's food chain unless it involves a domestic animal pursuing a wild creature. With this in mind, she has sent many a cat away from a bird feeder and saved many a squirrel from a curious canine.

S. J. Brown's book Close Ups & Close Encounters features over fifty of her wildlife photographs as well as the stories behind getting those images. S. J. Brown's photographs and written words are her way of sharing her experiences. Introducing others, such as her granddaughter, to the field is one of her primary goals and loves. She hopes her work will give others an appreciation for the natural world.

What's Your Mark Book Review

I read What's your Mark, in exchange for review from BookSneeze.  I have the paperback version. The book is written by Jeremy Cowart and published by Zondervan Press.

The book discusses people, who made a mark on the world. Their lives have also been changed by Jesus. I chose this book because I loved the description and the cover was beautiful. I started reading the book as soon as I got it in the mail.

Also, after each story, the author has a chapter from Mark. So, you can learn about someone, get inspired, and then read the bible. yay.

I review for BookSneeze®Let me tell you about the cover. It is a beautiful frame, with a silver, mirror-material in the middle. You can see yourself through the mirror. Maybe, you can ask "what's my mark", while looking at yourself. The photos throughout the book are amazing too.

The first story talks about a woman, who uses twitter for social good. The woman works for Twitter too.  Instead of twitting random nothings, she tweets things, which will help people. For example, she posted about an orphanage, she visited. She posted about the good things, the orphanage was doing. She also posted on how people can help orphans. She also teaches people how to use twitter for good. What we tweet can affect others and how others feel about us.

Another story, was about a photographer, who used photography as a way to connect with others. She uses photography to see the light in others, to put focus on them, instead of her. The next story, focuses on a Christian hip-hop artist. He also started a non-profit. The book presents 21 stories of people, who made their mark on the world, including a husband and wife team, who had a successful tv series on the bible. The book is available in paperback (11.99 at time of posting) and kindle (1.99 at time of this posting).
