Low Back Pain Program Review (Tomoson)

I read Low Back Pain Program (SmashWords) in exchange for honest review from Tomoson. I received a Smashwords code for a free book for participation. The book was written by Sherwin Nicholson.

I wanted to read the book because I have back pain on a regular basis and wanted to learn more about how to reduce the pain. I have a large breasts, two kids, and need to exercise 7 days a week lol. Toss in female cramps, where my back is killing me. I don't always like taking pills to reduce the pain. Take the wrong pill, such as the ones with the sleep meds, I am done for and knocked out for the rest of the night.

The book discusses exercises, you can complete, to reduce back pain. First, the book discusses back pain, followed by having the right mindset to reduce pain. Then, the book moves into types of exercises, provided such as limited mobility, progressive, supportive, maintenance, and supporting. The author talks about the the type and frequency to work out on each type of exercise.

You also need to stretch first and work at your own pace. Don't overexert yourself.

The author also provides a list of exercises for each type, along with pictures of the back to aid you. I also love how the author provides visuals of how to do exercises. I need to work on maintenance, supportive, and progressive.

I also noticed, the author did not require any exercise equipment, except for a chair or a set of steps, a box, or the couch.

Some of the exercises included squats, planks,  twists, and lunges.

Bread for Adversity Book Review (Tomoson)

I read Bread for Adversity by Richard L. Toney in exchange for honest review from Tomoson. I received a Smashwords code for a free book.

I wanted to review the book to have inspiration and motivation for rough days. And I been having plenty of rough days in a row, for the past few weeks, over an issue, started by Brad's former teacher.

The book starts out with an invitation to Christ, followed by a poem. I was a little confused on the initial format though. The TOC can be improved to include each devotional versus 3 sections, but that's just my opinion.

Then, the book moves into the devotional. The devotionals are supported by bible verses, then a devotional. I also love the new thoughts and related verses for further learning.

I loved Day 2 because I need to live for today and not worry about the future, which is hard to do

My Review

The book started out with Jacinta (also known as Cin), who owned a strip club and works for an ad agency, working on a business deal. The first few lines, set the scene in a strip club. The book then moves into Jacinta's, co-worker Selah,  finding out Cin may be pitching her ideas at the business meeting.  Moria has the perfect marriage, so it seems. 

I liked the book. I had to read through some scenes quickly because of the sexual content. The stories was good and flowed from one chapter to the next. Part of Episode 1 was harder to read than the sex scenes (When Selah comes home from a spa day and her husband, Thorne, makes me see lots of red). Also, the end of chapter 7 was a powerful scene. I read the books within a few hours. great read. In the collection, the books flow continuously.

D-Nine by Magus Tor Book Review (Tomoson)

Will he survives the conspiracy or death is a welcome solution to his forbidden love.

My Review:

The book was a good read. I wanted to review the book because the description sounded interesting. The book starts out with James having a headache and he pops a few choice pills to relieve the pain. When he awakes, he is in the hospital and bouncing back and forth in a dream state, where he is the royal highness. James is clueless to what's going on. He is in a new time with a new name and chambermaids. 

James is also changed into Princess Sarabeth. James/Sarabeth's life is in danger and he/she has to leave the kingdom quickly for protection. No one wont tell him what's going on because they think her memories will return, but James only remembers his former life as a Dr.. Then James moves back into the real word and then back into fantasy land. This provides a synopsis into the first 20 or so pages. 

I was hooked. In one world, the main character is a male physician and in another, a princess, surrounded by danger because she is next in line to ascend the throne.

Time and Again by Deborah Heal Book Review (Tomoson)

About the book:

The book is about Abby, a college student who is tutoring a teen girl for a school project, over the summer, hoping the assignment would be easy. Meredith reminded me of my niece. An annoying, sarcastic, know-it-all, teen girl, who wants to watch TV, instead of studying. Luckily, Meredith does not have a Facebook, Youtube, and Instagram :-)

My Review:

First, the book is Christian-Based. I also loved the description of the book. The book is geared towards teens. Abby is on summer vacation but still has to work as a teacher. It's her first day of work and she would be tutoring. Abby is interested in history. The two make progress when they see a little boy, almost get hit by a train. While Abby and Meredith was taking the little boy, Michael, home, they strike up a conversation with an elderly female, who mentions says, you'll find the soul of that old house and you'll find--well Charlotte will show you.  The elderly lady gives them a clue to the past, but they don't know it yet.

I liked the book. It had a nice pace. I got really into the book.

I read On The Edge, in exchange for review from Sage Publications. The book is written by Dick Hannah.

My Review:

The book starts out with Joe leading exercise boot camp. Joe eventually realizes 10 recruits are missing. He broke a rule: never split the force, but Joe still went looking for his students.  Chapter 1 was a good intro into the book. Start of a great mystery. In Chapter 2, 9 of the recruits was finally found, which means one was still missing. The mystery continues. What happened to that 1 student? Chapter 2 started with a question: What happened to that one student and ended with a bang. Very intense. 

The book was a great read.

Crimson Footprints

I read Crimson Footprints, in exchange for review from Charisma Media Network. The book was written by Shewanda PughThe book is available in Kindle and paperback. The book was published by Delphine Books through Smashwords. I also have purchased the book last year and did not realize it yet.

My review: 
The book is about Deena Hammond, who was born and raised in Miami (Liberty City). Her brother is trouble. Her grandmother seems to be ornery and can instill fear in anyone. She meets Takumi Tanaka, while he was in a sticky situation with her brother, Anthony. Deena helps diffuse the situation. Tanaka continues to think about Deena and sees her again weeks later. The book started off slow for me, but as I got more into the book, I started to love it. The author's scenery and characters are descriptive and have depth. For example, Deena works for an architecture firm, owned by Daichi Tanaka, Takumi's father. She met Takumi, while he was in a situation with Anthony, not knowing he was her boss's son until a tragic event. Everything is tied together. Getting involved with Takumi may affect family and career. I am halfway through the book. The book is exciting, gripping, and you can get lost in it.

Challenge to write 5/7/ 2013

Your favorite activity besides blogging…

I like to read and write. I love books. I love to write poetry. I like all sorts of books (Christian, fiction, non-fiction, science fiction, romance, drama, thriller, business, psychology, special needs, etc). I been a fan of reading since forever. My mother taught me to read at a young age. I was a fan of Danielle Steel, E.Lynn Harris, Alex Haley, John Grisham, and other authors at a young age. I have read 1000s or more page books within 24 hours (i.e. The Left Behind Series, Book 13). I also started writing poetry at a young age. I don't have any of my earlier work. Accidently left it behind in Georgia and it is gone now. I have written published poetry and short stories. If anyone wants to review Chocolate Kisses, Love.Lust.Life, or any of the books on Smashwords, let me know and I will generate a free code for you. 

Chocolate Kisses was dedicated to a former addicktion of mine. I thought I was in love with him, but I was really in strong lust with his penis. Writing the book was hard but it became therapy for me.

Love.Lust.Life was another collection of poetry. I wrote on various topics. Some was dedicated to people. Anyway, LLL required me to dig deep and write real feelings about real topics. 

Conversations with Normality was a short story I wrote for a contest on Lulu. It was semi-fictional based on a conversation I had with my oldest, who is autistic and ADHD. 

Conversations with Sexuality was a short story, I wrote to deal with some feelings I had about my celibacy. 

Miscarried was a short story, I wrote to deal with some feelings, I had during my last miscarriage in 2009. Had my first one in 2005. Still dealing with feelings, which arise every now and then. 

Conversing with Salvation was a short story, I wrote about my oldest. I wondered how he can be saved, if he may not understand God's grace and mercy.

First attempt, was a short story I wrote for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), but I never finished it. 

Conversations First edition combines Normality, Miscarried, and Salvation into one edition. Later, I added First Attempt and Sexuality, but didn't realize I didn't edit the first book, until it was published. So Conversations Second Edition has all the short stories. 

I was working on a blog-type book about raising special needs kids, but my laptop is down, and I can not find the updated file on Google drive. Hopefully, it will be working soon. 

Amidst Traffic by Michel Sauret

I read Amidst Traffic, in exchange for review by Michel Sauret. The book was published by One Way Street Productions. I received the paperback from Sauret. I also have the Kindle version and the Smashwords copy, I got on my own, so I can read it on my e-readers and the Kindle, of course.

About the Author: paraphased from the back of the book

Sauret, is an indie author, who was born in Rome, Italy.  Sauret graduated from University of Pittsburgh English writing department. He published "Breathing God", his first novel at 18. He also served as a public affairs specialist and journalist for the United States Army since 2004. Sauret also has won several awards, including Army Journalist of the year in 2008. He also was featured in the Northside Chronicle recently, but I could not find the article online.

My thoughts:

The book is a collection of short stories. First, I liked the coding at the beginning of the book which signified language, violence, or sexual references. The codes were the first thing, which stood out. I wanted to incorporate something similar into my next poetry book, whenever that may be. I loved the stories from Eli and his strange dream in Three Straws. I also loved Voice with a Reason. Trevor's story was emotional and intense. Voice with a Reason details the story of Trevor, voices in his head, and a bank robbery. I was entranced from beginning to end, and the end was not what I was expecting, neither was the middle. Another good story was Blessed are the War People. The story was about Myron, a military journalist, heading to Iraq. He had his camera and ammunition, ready to work, yet getting angry at a woman at the airport.  Myron also got angry at a few soldiers, but with the power of Christ, he forgave them. Though, Myron was in a war-torn country, he recognized the power of God and recognizing the enemy within ourselves.  He seemed to be passive. I saw part of myself in him. Being angry on the inside and not doing anything about it, until it builds up. The stories were descriptive, graphic, and detailed. Definitely would want to see this book in audio format. Next, I loved the cover. It was simply beautiful.
