Cheerios Cheer on Reading Campaign (PlateFull Co-Op)

I received a two boxes of Cheerios (Chocolate and Plain), in response to a campaign from 

PlateFull Co-Op. All opinions are my own. 

The Cheer on Reading Campaign provides one out of six books in boxes of Cheerios.

I received copies of 1, 2, 3 Peas, for my boys. The campaign wants to encourage families to read together. 

The website also has box and book activities for kids to participate in, using cheerios. The activities are printable. 

My kids loved the chocolate cheerios. Between my boys and my great niece, they went through an half a box quick. The children also loved the plain cheerios. Look for a book in a box of cheerios, the next time you go to the store :-)

Mark My Time Digital Bookmark Product Review (Tomoson)

I reviewed Mark My Time, in exchange for review from Tomoson.

Mark-My-Time is a innovative concept to bookmarks. You don't have to use a ribbon or a paper bookmark. Mark-My-Time allows you to not only save your child's place in a book, but to record his or her time spent reading a book.

I wanted to review the product to track the time I spend reading to the kids each day. It is a great product. My kids can't read yet, but they can be read too. I may give it to my nephew since he is also homeschooled and his mother has him reading daily.

The product was awarded Best new product of 2004 by Book Expo America. Mark-My-Time comes in many colors: bright yellow, neon blue, neon purple, neon green, bright pink, and bright red.

The bookmark comes with a digital clock, in addition to a timer, which tells you how long your kids read for the day. Maybe your child has timed homework in other subjects, the bookmark can be used to track the time as well.


The product also features a cumulative timer, which stores 100 hours of reading time. The bookmark uses a watch battery.

The bookmarks are 8.95 each on Mark-My-Time's website. The website also sells digital book lights (countdown with a light), digital metronomes, and digital clip-on lights. The bookmarks are also sold in stores. The website offers a store locator

Tyndale Rewards

I love Tyndale. I been part of the Tyndale Blog Network since 2011. Tyndale offers a great selection of Christian books to review and purchase. Tyndale recently started a new website called Tyndale Rewards, where you can earn points to obtain books, bibles, and music. It is free to sign up and free to participate. Since joining the program, I have earned points to buy Cupidity, which is an excellent book on relationships. I also got a children's bible story book.

You earn points completing surveys, signing up for newsletters, and of course, referring friends to Tyndale. OR you can join the birthday club or Tyndale's focus group. You also can earn points for reviewing Tyndale Books (provide the URL of your review). The website has an earn points tab with a list of things you can do to earn points. The most efficient way is to refer friends, family, and co-workers. Since it is a newer site, I have completed all of the surveys.

You earn 10 points per book review submitted, with a cap at 50 points. If you love Tyndale and have read a few books, you can do what I did, and go through Amazon, Goodreads, and other book review sites , and submit five of those URLS. Your points never expire. The points only can be used on Tyndale Rewards website. You can save up your points for a big ticket item, like I am. Once you find an item you want, you will redeem it, and then enter your address for mailing. For books, you can download the first chapter for free to see if you will like it.

To find a reward, click on browse. The categories include:

4. Parenting
5. Children
6. Audio

Some products are limited edition. For example, a few months ago, they had a book by Roma Downey. There is currently a slim line bible with limited status. The rewards change regularly, so it's always something fresh.

3. Submit your information and wait for the confirmation email

Stacie's Product Reviewing Tips (based on experience)

I started doing product reviews earlier this year. Not quite sure how I got started, but as I got more into blogging, I started noticing buttons on other people's blogs. Before I would Click on the button and I would sign up for a new affiliate or book review site. Now, I can click on a button and get a new product review site. I love Tomoson, Influenster, and Smiley 360. I love BlogDash and Bloggerdise. Those are my primary product review sites.  I Then, the facebook groups, I started getting into.
These are my tips for product (and book) reviews:

1. Take a picture of the product as soon as you take it out of the box. Do a quick video. Do the unveiling of the box and product (if it's influenster). Usually, I open the box, take the products out of the box, and then toss the box. No offense against the box, but I don't want a room full of boxes and packing materials. Note the name of the company on the box. Sometimes, I have seen where the company would send the product without any marketing material. Only way I can identify the company was to look at the box. My iPad cases, which came recently did not have any material. I had no idea what it was. My package, which came yesterday, also had no marketing materials, but I knew what it was and where it came from. Taking a picture also shows evidence of everything, in the box, before consumption (such as food or sample creams, etc). Definitely, if it is food, my kids will eat it. 
2. For books--paper or hardback--what I started doing is writing the name of the publishing company and the host company, along with the review due by date on the inside. I will forget. I also write it in my planner because I will forget. I had an incident recently where I assumed a book was a librarything member giveaway, but it was a bethany house book. trying to finish it now, so I can submit my review within the next week or so. 
3. If you get a heavy box, like the one I got yesterday, take it to the room you are going to install it or display it in, and then unpack the box. no point in unpacking a heavy box in one room, and installing it another. 
4. Sometimes a video takes multiple takes. Factor in youtube downtime, kids interrupting you, computer shutting down accidently. 
5. When writing a post, make sure to get all the mandatory information in first. For example, when I started on Tomoson, my first review did not include the verification codes. I had to go back and insert those in and submit my review again. I can add my review in next, along with videos and pictures. Another example, I was in book review mode on Amazon. Trying to get the reviews from the blog into amazon, good reads, librarything, and shelfari. I was copying the review portion without copying the disclaimer portion. I had to go back and edit about 5 reviews to put in the disclaimer. 
6. lighting. I don't have the best lighting coming from the webcam or the phone. I am looking into reviewing or buying a digital camera/camcorder. Sound: check your microphones before starting the review. Do a test video first to make sure the lighting and sound is ok. 
7. Make sure to put the disclaimer into all your reviews. If you got it for free, say it. If it's a sponsored post, say it. Don't plagiarize. Cite your sources. If you are copying from the media kit per instructions, say it. If you got any compensation, whether money, clothing, tickets, books, say it. Acknowledge it. acknowledge the company. Do not displease the FTC. Not to mention, Google, Facebook, Wordpress, the company, and others. Be honest in your dealings. I am a business management major. One of the most important classes I have taken is ethics. Be ethical and honest. 

Challenge to write 5/7/ 2013

Your favorite activity besides blogging…

I like to read and write. I love books. I love to write poetry. I like all sorts of books (Christian, fiction, non-fiction, science fiction, romance, drama, thriller, business, psychology, special needs, etc). I been a fan of reading since forever. My mother taught me to read at a young age. I was a fan of Danielle Steel, E.Lynn Harris, Alex Haley, John Grisham, and other authors at a young age. I have read 1000s or more page books within 24 hours (i.e. The Left Behind Series, Book 13). I also started writing poetry at a young age. I don't have any of my earlier work. Accidently left it behind in Georgia and it is gone now. I have written published poetry and short stories. If anyone wants to review Chocolate Kisses, Love.Lust.Life, or any of the books on Smashwords, let me know and I will generate a free code for you. 

Chocolate Kisses was dedicated to a former addicktion of mine. I thought I was in love with him, but I was really in strong lust with his penis. Writing the book was hard but it became therapy for me.

Love.Lust.Life was another collection of poetry. I wrote on various topics. Some was dedicated to people. Anyway, LLL required me to dig deep and write real feelings about real topics. 

Conversations with Normality was a short story I wrote for a contest on Lulu. It was semi-fictional based on a conversation I had with my oldest, who is autistic and ADHD. 

Conversations with Sexuality was a short story, I wrote to deal with some feelings I had about my celibacy. 

Miscarried was a short story, I wrote to deal with some feelings, I had during my last miscarriage in 2009. Had my first one in 2005. Still dealing with feelings, which arise every now and then. 

Conversing with Salvation was a short story, I wrote about my oldest. I wondered how he can be saved, if he may not understand God's grace and mercy.

First attempt, was a short story I wrote for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), but I never finished it. 

Conversations First edition combines Normality, Miscarried, and Salvation into one edition. Later, I added First Attempt and Sexuality, but didn't realize I didn't edit the first book, until it was published. So Conversations Second Edition has all the short stories. 

I was working on a blog-type book about raising special needs kids, but my laptop is down, and I can not find the updated file on Google drive. Hopefully, it will be working soon.

Mind Funk Times

Conversations

Conversations combines three short stories (Conversing with Salvation, Conversing with Normality, and Miscarried) into a single book. Salvation and Normality discusses conversations I had with myself and God about my oldest child, who is Autistic. Salvation is a conversation with God--How can my child be saved if he may not understand God's goodness and grace. Normality discusses a semi-real conversation I had with Brad on food. Miscarriage is based on me. I had two miscarriages (2005 and 2009). Experienced conflict in emotions. The book is 10 bucks for the print edition on Createspace

Love.Lust.Life

Love.Lust.Life is a book of my poetry, discussing three phases of my life. Love discusses crushes. Lust discusses sexuality. Life discusses well life. The print edition is $20 bucks on CreateSpace.

Chocolate Kisses


Chocolate Kisses is about a former addiction of mine. I wrote a few poems to him over the years (2006 to 2010ish) and decided to make the poetry into a book. I also learned to get over him, while writing this book. So, the book became healing for me. I was too addickted to his penis. The book is $20 on createspace.

I am a big fan of finding free stuff online. One of the things I am addicted to is amazon.com. I subscribe to a few mailing lists, which sends me a list of free books on amazon daily. I like the picture books because it teaches my oldest a few new words.
