Best Healthy Vegan Holiday Recipes by Jonathan Vine Book Review (Tomoson)

This post contains Amazon Affiliate Links and Images

I read Best Healthy Vegan Holiday Recipes: Christmas recipes (Quick & Easy Vegan Recipes), in exchange for honest review from Tomoson. The book was written by Jonathan Vine. I love meat, but don't always have to cook with meat, especially when my nephew, the veggie, comes to visit. He is also allergic to wheat. I have to make sure, I cook some veggies without chicken or veggie broth. I also have to make sure my meat utensils don't touch the pot with the veggies.

Vine has wrote a book of vegan recipes for holiday celebrations.

Chapter 1 focuses on Thanksgiving recipes. The Potato Gratin was nice, but I may leave out the cashews. Love them, but they are sometimes too hard for my teeth. I did notice the cashews are soaked overnight and are used in place of cheese. The cranberry stuffed tofu sounds delicious, even though I never ate tofu.

I also liked the Thanksgiving rice, with brown rice, shiitake mushrooms, broccoli, and pumpkin puree. For dessert, the apple crumb cake sounds like a great offering. The recipe uses whole wheat flour and coconut sugar.

Chapter 2 focuses on Christmas Recipes. I liked the broccoli fritters with a garlic dipping sauce. I also liked the sweet potato and black bean curry. Other recipes, which stood out include:

  1. Raisin Red Cabbage Saute
  2. Pumpkin Gingerbread
  3. Roasted Hawaiian Fruits
Chapter 3 focuses on Halloween recipes. The first one, which stood out was spiced stew in a pumpkin. I probably cut back on the amount of spice though. I also liked the Arugula salad with roasted red grapes. Other recipes, which stood out include:

  1. Mushroom balls with Tomato Cranberry sauce
  2. Roasted Tomato and Garlic Soup
  3. Harvest baked pumpkin
Finally, chapter 4 focuses on Easter recipes. Recipes, which stood out include:

  1. Creamy spinach and lemon soup
  2. Roasted asparagus with mustard sauce
  3. Pasta primavera
  4. No crust mushroom quiche
  5. Hummus stuffed vegetables
  6. Chunky bean dip
  7. Raw chocolate fudge

This post contains Amazon Affiliate Links and Images.

I read Cookbook: 101 Healthy Vegan Asian Food (Quick & Easy vegan recipes Book 5), in exchange for honest review. The book was written by Jonathan Vine.

I thought of this book for my nephew, who is a veggie, and my sister, who is vegan. Cooking food for the nephew is hard since he also doesn't eat certain dyes, plus he picky as heck. He likes veggies, but doesn't like a salad, for example.

First, the author provided a list of most common Asian spices. Then, he moves into recipes.

Some of the appetizers, I liked includes:

  • Scallion Pancakes (without the sriracha)
  • Salad on crispy wontons
  • Cabbage rolls
  • Wonton wrappers
  • Spring rolls
  • Sweet Potato pot stickers
Chapter 2 focuses on soups. Some of the soups, I liked include:

  • Pumpkin soup with caramelized peanuts
  • Korean pumpkin creamy soup
Chapter 3 focuses on main dishes. Some of the dishes, I liked include:
  • Peanut Noodles
  • Sticky Rice
  • Mango Sticky Rice
  • Stir fried veggies
  • Stir fried straw veggies
  • Stuffed tomatoes
Chapter 4 focuses on desserts. Some of the desserts, I liked include:

  • Banana Fritters
  • Syrup Pineapple
  • Matcha Ice Cream
  • Sweet potato rolls
  • Grilled pineapple
  • Banana fritters with caramel sauce

The Weight Loss and Detox Secret Book Review: Green Smoothies (Tomoson)

This post contain Amazon Affiliate Links and Images

I read Green Smoothies: The Weight Loss & Detox Secret: 50 Recipes for a Healthy Diet (Special Diet Cookbooks & Vegetarian Recipes Collection Book 3)by Jonathan Vine, in exchange for honest review from Tomoson. I wanted to read the book since I have started making more smoothies using fruits and veggies, versus ice cream and root beer. I also started to use more kale and spinach in my blender.Green Smoothies is a great way to "eat" healthier.

Smoothies also do not take long to make. You add some fruit, some veggies, maybe some flax, and water, then mix all the ingredients together in your blender. I also add some truvia or other sugar alternative, if the mix is too bitter or tart. My favorite grocery store, HEB, also started making frozen smoothie starter mixes, such as the green fuel energy mix with apples, grapes, and kale. I buy a combination of frozen fruits, along with the starter mixes, for variety. I also use ice to make the smoothies thicker. Vine also suggested ice as a thickener too.

I have a personal blender, so I don't make more than what I need to. I just add in a few extra minutes to assemble my blender together.

Vine's book presents 50 green smoothie recipes. He first discusses what a green smoothie is. You can include Apples, Berries, Cucumber, Avocado, Kale and Herbs. I never thought about adding Avocado or Cucumber to a smoothie before. He also discusses the health and nutritional benefits of green smoothies.

The first recipe, which stood out was the first recipe: the apple and spinach smoothie. Vine adds ginger, honey, and ice, along with the apples and spinach. The minty avocado has yogurt, avocado, and almond milk.

I also liked the arugula and raspberries; the sweet potato; and spinach and citrus smoothie.

I am definitely adding some new veggies, herbs, and other ingredients to my smoothies from now on.

You can purchase the book on Amazon in Kindle format only.

Clean food diet book review (Tomoson)

This product contains Amazon Affiliate links.

I read The Clean Food Diet: Avoid processed foods and eat clean with few simple lifestyle changes(free nutrition recipes)(natural food recipes) (Special Diet Cookbooks & Vegetarian Recipes Collection Book 4), in exchange for honest review from Tomoson.

I keep hearing about clean eating, but not exactly sure what it is. I'm sure it's more than cleaning your food before preparation or cleaning the dishes or safe cooking standards.

The author said clean eating is knowing about where your food comes from and what's in it. Clean eating means avoiding processed foods. Some processed foods include canned goods (which I love), white flour, and items, which you can't identify each ingredient. He also mentioned one of my staples, instant oatmeal.

The author also discussed what you can eat such as fresh and raw foods. He also mentioned canned goods, which doesn't contain any additives. He also recommends organic foods. Other clean foods include nuts, fruit, farm range eggs, and coconut oil.

Next, the author focuses on how to cook clean. First, avoid fried foods and focus on steaming, stewing, and using less salt.

The beginning section was very helpful in explaining clean food and techniques.

Finally, the author provides clean eating recipes. Some of the recipes, I liked included. I loved the first appetizer: the guacamole bruschetta. I love breads. I love avocado. I also liked the cream cheese cucumber cups and the mini spinach pizzas, using pita bread.

For salads, I loved the spinach and avocado salad with poppy seed dressing. For entrees, I loved the Mediterranean stuffed eggplants, the meatless chili, and the zucchini fries.

Finally for desserts, I loved the two ingredient oatmeal cookies (rolled oats and bananas) and the clean chocolate souffle.

Vegetarian Quick and Easy Under 15 Minutes by Jonathan Vine Book Review (Tomoson)

Disclaimer: This post contains Amazon Affiliate Links.

I read Vegetarian Quick & Easy - Under 15 Minutes: (100 Simple Natural Foods Recipes) (Weight Maintenance & Low Fat Lifestyle) (Special Diet Cookbooks & Vegetarian Recipes Collection Book 2), in exchange for honest review from Tomoson. The book was written by Jonathan Vine and Tali Carmi.

I wanted to review the book because my nephew is a picky vegetarian, with an allergy to gluten. He also does not consume foods with certain dyes and chemicals. He doesn't eat meat or wheat. He also loves dairy such as eggs and ice cream.  Cooking for him is hard but the family still tries to cook him healthy food. I prefer quick food, so I can get out the kitchen. Oatmeals, cheese roll-ups, beans and rice.

First, the book discusses the different type of vegetarians. For example, total vegetarians are vegans (such as my sister). My nephew is an example of an Lacto-ovo-vegetarian. He doesn't eat meat, but will consume some animal by products, such as cheese and eggs.

The book also discusses the benefits of being a vegetarian. Then we head to my favorite section, which discusses quick meals for busy moms. Some of the recipes, I loved included the:

  1. Avocado Scramble. Avocado and Eggs.
  2. Vanilla French Toast
  3. Cheesy Mushrooms
  4. Ricotta Cheese Fritters
  5. Greek Salad
  6. Potato Pancakes
The book also has quick, romantic meals, such as nutella french toast, caprese salad, nutella trifle,  or the spinach and strawberry balsamic salad. mmm mmm good.

I also loved the cheese-filled croissants, the caramel pears, and the warm peanut butter banana sandwich. Think grilled cheese, but without the cheese.

The book also has pictures scattered throughout.

The book is available on Kindle and paperback. The paperback is Prime Eligible. The kindle book is free for today. Go download it. Add it to your devices.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
