Twin Tales: Alike and Different Book Review (iRead Book Tours)

My Review: 

First, the book has simple language and amazing illustrations. The book tells the story of Alexia and Denise, who are twin, African-American, girls. They love to play and they love their family, but they are not alike, they are different. They may share the same face, but they have different skills and abilities. 

As a special needs parent, I definitely understand. My kids are 20 and 10. They share five diagnoses, including severe autism, but they are so different. Each kid has their own skills and abilities. My oldest loves to eat; watch youtube; and play video games. My oldest doesn't like sour cream or corn chips, unless it is mixed into something else. He doesn't like bananas. He also doesn't eat most sweets, but he loves ice cream, sour gummies, and oreos. Brad definitely doesn't like the biscuit at Mcdonalds and Jack in the box. 

My youngest is severe autism but he is more mentally advanced, age wise. He was delayed in everything, but made significant progress over the years. When it comes to food, Kalen is more picky. He also doesn't like the biscuits at Mcdonalds and Jack in the box, but he loves chicken, fries, chips, and sweets. He loves ice cream, chocolates, some cookies. He also will play with blocks, cars, and his kitchen playset, while my oldest never really took to toys. My oldest does like simple toys like blocks and other similar stacking toys.

Nadia is a soft spoken, articulate, gentle spirit. Initially she is reserved, but once comfortable she will win you over with her contagious laughter and the silly jokes she keeps in her back pocket for the right time. Nadia is caring and always does what she can to help others feel better. She is very in tune with her emotions and very direct when expressing them.

The book is great for the fall season. The bears are preparing for (and later attending) the Harvest Festival in town. The festival was filled with fun activities, such as apple picking, a hay ride, and a meal. The book was also a quick read, whether I read it in it's entirety for one child or skimmed through the pictures for another child.

The pictures are also bright and colorful

Shelly's Outdoor Adventure Book Review (Tomoson)

I read Shelly's Outdoor Adventure (Shelly's Adventures), in exchange for honest review from Tomoson. The book was written by Kentrell Martin and illustrated by Marc Rodriguez. In the book, Shelly goes on an adventure, but she also teaches kids some sign language. I wanted the book because Brad knows some signs, such as hungry and more, while Kalen is learning sign language at school. Well, his teachers are attempting to teach him sign language.

The book is a quick read with the story, but the sign language portion is interesting because you have to stop to bond with your kids to teach them the signs in the book. Your kids will learn new words in English and in sign language.

Abigail and the Tropical Island by #TaliCarmi Review (Tomoson)

I read Abigail and the Tropical Island Adventure, in exchange for honest review from Tomoson. The book was written by Tali Carmi and illustrated by Neda Fuchedzhieva.

Abigail, once again, goes on a magical adventure, on her magical bike. Her grandpa gave her the magical bike at the beginning of the Abigail series.  In this book, Abigail visits an archipelago, or a group of islands. She makes a new friend right away, while exploring the beaches. She learns about pearls and star fish, while also going to a friend's birthday party. Abigail also has to help the natives solve a problem.

The book was a quick read, which is perfect for my kids. I also loved the colorful illustrations. The beaches, the coconut trees, and the characters. Kalen loved this book, especially the pictures.

I wish I were a monkey by Dan Jackson Book Review (Tomoson)

I read I Wish I Were a MONKEY , in exchange for honest review. I never received the book and bought the book from Amazon on a free day to complete the review. The book was written by Dan Jackson.

The book presents facts about monkeys. The first thing, which stood out was chimps, gorillas, and orangutans are not monkeys. but apes.The book  discusses species (over 200) and habitats, foods eaten, and habitats. The books also discuss how monkeys handle threats and predators.

I feel the book is geared for intermediate readers, instead of beginners, since the book presents more facts than pictures. The book also uses bigger words. I also like the real life photographs throughout the book.

I am Dreaming about..dog's dreams by Dan Jackson review (Tomoson)

I received Children books : " I am Dreaming About.. " : (Teaches your kid to explore dog's dreams) (Values eBook) Action & Adventure, Sleep (Animals): Dogs (Dogs and Animals), in exchange for honest review from Tomoson. The book was written by Dan Jackson.

The book is supposed to be a beginner reader book, about a doggie named Max, but the version, I got was confusing to read. The book has a line to read to the kids and I guess information for the parents about dreams and dogs. The facts could have been placed at the back of the book versus intermingled with the story.

So Max dreams about various things, such as traveling around the world and parents can learn facts about dreaming. The book is a quick read. It is not the typical Dan Jackson children's book, I have read before.

You also have free coloring pages at the back of the book for printing. The book also encourages children to share their dreams with their parents. Other than that, I don't think the book is age-appropriate. My 3 year old isn't interested in hearing the facts, he just wants some basic words and the pictures.

I read Look Inside: The Time of Jesus: A Lift-the-Flap Discovery Book (Look Inside: a Lift-the-Flap Discovery Book)  in exchange for honest review from Kregel Blog Tours. The book was written by Lois Rock and illustrated Lorenzo Orlandi

I wanted to read the book because I thought it was cool, plus I can teach my kids about God. I also loved the interactiveness. The kids can open up the flaps to reveal hidden people. Of course, once Kalen figured out he can open the panels, a few was ripped off (RIP panels lol).

The book starts with the birth of Jesus and ends with the crucifixion, which was done beautifully

The book also shows what the people, workers, and animals in the cities on a daily basis. The rabbi preaching the word; the boys in the schoolhouse, learning scripture; the sheep in the pasture. Maybe you want to learn about the names of tools used in the carpentry studio.

The illustrations were bright and colorful. Orlandi did an excellent job.

The book presents pictures and facts about Lions.The book is a great educational resource. The book has information about eating and living habits. Even how lions don't need to drink water for days at a time.
