My Reviews

Gentle Steps on the Journey of a Healing Heart

I knew this book would be interesting to read since the book opened up in the reader app on the computer versus Kindle or Adobe Digital Editions. This is the first book, which defaulted to this app.

In the book,  Penner discusses how to have joy in times of struggle.  The book teaches you how to find peace in chaos. I definitely needed to read this book because my mind is not at peace. I have to clean. I have to blog. I have to raise two special needs kids. Sometimes, I have to cook. Like, last night, I stayed up late cleaning the bathroom because there was a mini flood. I started cleaning the game room and started cleaning my bedroom. I had three reviews to write before midnight and almost forgot because I thought yesterday was the 7th, not the 8th. I got up this morning, like normal, to get kids ready for school and then worked on the game room.

I had to put a screw and washer back in Brad's bed because he probably jumped on the bed. Yet, if I didn't move his bed back to insert the screw, I would have never found a product, I have to review within the next few weeks, that I thought was in a bin in my room. I also would have never found my old phone, the kids still use to watch Youtube or to play tap the frog. I am in the process of trying to organize my things better, but it's definitely a struggle because there is only so much, I can do per day. Definitely need an assistant to help me go through these bins.

In the book, Penner discusses journaling. She discussed her gratitude journal and a organized journal, divided into sections. She discusses ending every journal entry on a positive note. I also love to write, but when I write, I just write until I can't write anymore, even if it doesn't make sense. It can end positive or negative, but I have to stop when my hands start hurting. You can express yourself through journaling: your thoughts, fears, and ideas. Whatever you are going through. She also provides stories about her husband and children.

You can purchase the book on Amazon in Kindle, Paperback, and Hardback format. The book is prime-eligible.

52 weeks of Adventure and Discovery for your Soul

In the book, Penner discusses how we should live life for each day. We shouldn't wait for things to happen, but to make time for things to happen, and then do them. The book starts out with a dedication to her father, who died of cancer, but did not lose hope. Penner does provide ideas and journal prompts for you to consider. One prompt is to select an event from your life and write down what meaning you have attached to it. Or how would your parents describe you? These questions are in the first section called Discover U, then Penner goes into the 52 weeks of adventure. The 52 weeks of adventure provides colorful journal pages for you to write your thoughts, ideas, and adventures. I think it would be a good idea if you can write in the kindle edition. So I can jot down ideas where ever I go with the Kindle, instead of remembering to always bring my journal for ideas. Then again, they both go where I go anyway. :-)

You can purchase the book in Kindle and Paperback format. For the prompts, I do recommend Kindle, but for the journal pages, the paperback would be good. The book is prime-eligible.
