Author Biography

Tamar House grew up on the other side of the tracks. She was born in Lancaster, California and spent her early life in the slumlords. Straight from the school of hard knocks, she has been through it all.

Abandoned by her biological father, lived in a drug-infested neighborhood, molested as a child, raped as an adolescent, ran with the gangs as a teenager, and divorced in her early twenties, she felt that God was out to punish her. She was broken and abused and she struggled as a single mom. She met her current husband, Ryan, in 2010 and he brought her back to the Christian church.

She accepted the Lord back into her life weeks after they met and she began focusing on all of the wonderful blessings she has in her life. She decided to rid her soul of all the negativity that encompassed every ounce of her being, and started on her journey to true happiness.

She began encouraging her friends and co-workers to live life focused on being caring and loving, instead of anger and resentment. People started to notice this change in Tamar, and saw that by changing your attitude, it could change your life. She has created a following on social media and now her friends all look up to the motivational posts she has to offer. She wants everyone to have the wonderful life God intended for us all.

She is now happily married with four beautiful children, is a successful Realtor, owns a property management company, sells body alkalizing and balancing products, and spent two years writing this book “Detox Your Soul”. She hopes you enjoy it as much as she did writing it. This book will renovate your mind, body and spirit.

My Review

As I write this review,  I am sitting in a room at Texas Children's waiting for Kalen to complete an echo (ultrasound of his heart). Sitting in waiting rooms can allow time for reflection and even a little detox. You definitely think about God healing your son of his heart problem and other issues.

In the book, the author discusses having a fulfilling life. I don't think I have a fulfilling life. I feel stressed, worried, depressed, lonely, but not fulfilled. I spend my days cleaning or trying to keep my kids from killing each other. Not to mention, those days, where I spend all day in the hospital clinic (s) for Kalen's various issues.

I don't feel fulfilled. I feel drained. Some days, I feel I can't handle anything. I just want a moment of peace each day to write, to clean, and just breathe.

To be fulfilled, you have to develop healthier habits. You also need to find balance in your life, which is not easy for me. You need to detox from social media. You need to get rid of negative influences in your life. The author also encourages journaling, which I do from time to time. Just write down your feelings, with no filter and no editing in a journal or diary or even google docs. The author gives some starter questions to reflect on and answer in your journal.

The author also suggests a vision board. Next, the author suggests setting boundaries in your life. You may need to ask for help at times, which I struggle with. You may have to say no to something because you don't have the time, energy, or resources to deal with it.

The book is a good read. You can purchase it, using the link above. You also can download the app on Google Play and the App Store
