The bottle comes with a removable insert for the fruit. You also can pour water in by removing the infuser or pouring it over the infuser. I added ice first, then added the infuser (with pineapples), and water last. The lid does not have a spout so you take off the lid and drink from the bottle. The tab in the middle of the lid is removable. I also like the size of the bottle. It is tall and slim.
