Becky Johnson is the author, coauthor, or collaborator of more than forty books. She’s a natural storyteller who has inspired and entertained audiences for years. Most recently she co-authored We Laugh, We Cry, We Cook alone with a blog by the same name with her daughter, Rachel Randolph. She and her husband, Greg, live in Denver, Colorado. Rachel Randolph writes and speaks with humor and honesty about parenting a toddler, young married life, and her mostly plant-based cooking adventures. My Review:

I wanted to review the book because I am not feeling nourished. I am tired, things are cluttered, and some days, I have completely lost my mind. I am extremely tired and lacking sleep. Even though, I am a night owl, doesn't mean I want to be up all night active. I don't want to still be cleaning or dealing with the kids. Going to bed at 4 and waking up at 630, 6 days a week is tiring and draining.

Like this week, I planned on doing some organization and cleaning in my bedroom and bathroom. Wednesday, I wanted to clean but had to help uncle and daddy with Turbo Tax. Then, Kalen refused to sleep. I did wash dishes though. Thursday, I cleaned the kitchen and washroom. Threw a lot of old things in the trash, like a toaster oven, I never seen used in the 4 years, I been staying here.

Today, was shopping day. My mother gave me a ride to the grocery store, Starbucks, and Big Lots, where I bought Brad, a new bed. He destroyed another bed (styrofoam). When I washed the covers, he ripped out huge chunks of material from the mattresses. I threw away one mattress because it had acquired too many holes and threw out the other, after Brad puked all over it and it seeped from top to bottom. He been sleeping on a pallet on the floor for the last few days. We also got him a small dvd player. He has been moved to the game room with an tv, found around the house, a few movies, and a dvd player. He 14.  He can't have his own room at this house, but he can get out of mine :-)

I got home, I put up groceries, I cleaned, I put together the bed, I cooked for my Disney Side party. I was done at 8 but I still have a bed full of snacks and other food items, to put up in a rubbermaid and bins. I am extremely tired, but if I want to sleep, I need space in my bed.

On page 26, the authors provided a list of top ten everyday stressors for women. I have at least 8.

  6. Stress of fitness
  7. Stress of raising children
  8. Stress of feeling like a spiritual slacker

The other day, I had a serious breakdown and had to hide in the closet to pray for a few minutes of relief. Brad was screaming and I could not take the noise anymore. The book says for change to happen we need two things, a plan and motivation to change it (p. 36). That is probably my problem. I want things to change but don't have a plan and lack motivation to change it. I have no energy to change it. It's like this house. Some part of the house are coming apart, but when I mention the problems to my mother, she gets my uncle or father to put a temporary fix on it, versus taking the time and money to hire someone to fix it properly, like how my bathroom leaks down to the living room ceiling or the cabinets in the kitchen are rotting due to water damage. She does not want to change the problems. One day, she will make a choice, either fix it or fall through the floor. I am falling through the floor because some of my problems are too big for me.
