Morning Inspiration

I overheard T.D. Jakes this Morning. He was talking about how sometimes even when we grow, we sometimes get stuck in an old mindset, based on our culture and upbringing. The Egyptians wanted to be freed from Pharaoh. Even though they was freed later, Some thought living in slavery was better than living in freedom. They craved old foods, instead of the new Manna. All that complaining kept them stuck in the wilderness for 40 long, long years. The ones who entered the wilderness were not the same ones that came out of the wilderness.

We all are going through something right now. We are human. That's what we do. We all make mistakes. and We all have something to be grateful for daily.

Have a blessed day. --

Hooligan Bear: A special day by Ian Toyton and Andrea Dietrich

I read Hooligan Bear by Ian Toyton and Andrea Dietrich, in exchange for review from netgalley.com. The book was also published by Smith Publicity. The book was about bears, who threw a birthday party for a friend. Louie never had a birthday party and his friends decided to throw Louie his first birthday party. The book was cute. The graphics were wonderful. My kids enjoyed this book.

The book is also available on amazon

God's plans for the wealthy and powerful

Today, My pastor (Michael Pender, Fallbrook Church)discussed God's plans for the wealthy and powerful. He discussed three ways to create wealth and power: diligence, favor, and inheritance. Some things which stood out:

God is not afraid of wealth and power

God wants Christians in board rooms to make decisions for a Christian perspective

Not all wealth and power is evil

Sometimes Christians settle for the secular world to make life-decisions.

We have enough believers (church going and non church going) to have a bigger representation in political decisions.

Believers can shift the paradigm.

If you think you are broke, then you can never have wealth (mindset). (wealth, an overflow above life's necessities).

You can not spend how you want if you want to be wealthy.

Diligence

No substitute for diligence at work.

There is no easy path or shortcuts to excellence. If you want something badly, you need to work for it.

You can not get envious or angry at those, who worked for what they got, when you did not.

Diligence without wisdom is foolish.

Anything God created is not designed to be lazy.

You can not get envious or angry at someone, who works hard for what they got, when you do not.

Diligence without wisdom causes foolishness.

All pursuits won't get you wealth and power. You may want to be a rapper, but you may not make enough money to live on. Some rappers are still living at home, with their mama. Your arts may not pay your bills.

Some people live for the weekends. They look at Monday to Friday as an inconvenience. They only work to live a weekend lifestyle. You work all week to give all your money to a stripper. You better off to play the lottery (not endorsing it though) than to give your money to a naked woman.

Monday to Friday needs to be a Colossians 3:17

17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

If you work diligently, God will elevate you. You don't have to wear yourself out to gain wealth. Do it for the Lord and not for yourself.

To transform your work situation: Work harder and complain less.

Some folks can not enjoy God's blessings because they are always at work.

Favor

If you find favor, You will have favor in the eyes of God and man.

Favor is based on obedience.

Inheritance

Ensures kids will become productive

Sometimes pulling self up by bootstraps has more importance in society than inheriting something.

No matter how you obtain your wealth, someone helped you get it.

If you leave it to your kids, you don't need to offer apologies. If someone gets mad, you are dead anyway. :-)

Secrets of Biblical Wisdom by Kyle Searcy

I read the Secrets of biblical wisdom by Kyle Searcy, in exchange for review from Bethany House.

Funny story:

The other week, I was reviewing some emails and noticed one from Bethany House. It was the confirmation to send me this book. I normally keep my confirmations in the book review folder, but for some reason this book was in the business or event folder. I was not sure,if I received the book yet. I checked my e-readers (kindle for pc, kindle cloud, reader for pc, and adobe digital editions)but could not find the book. So I thought ok, Maybe Bethany has not sent the book in the mail yet. Cool, no Problem. I have two other books (paperback) to read for review. This morning, as I was preparing for church, I needed to find the boy's tooth brush. In my bag, with homework and other things needed to work, I noticed this book. I been reading it since I got home from church. The book was just what I needed at this moment. The book is what I needed right now.

I am loving this book. I enjoyed the forward and prologue, especially the dorm dream. I also enjoyed the story about how Kyle met his wife. The story was highly inspirational. Kyle let God guide him in finding the right woman for him--not just as a wife, but as a pastor's wife. Not everyone can handle this role. The book also talked about how we--as a people--need to allow Godly wisdom to guide our decisions. We do not need to rush into decisions because we will make mistakes-the wrong mistake. I also love the questions for thought at the end of each chapter. Searcy also teaches about the difference between Godly Wisdom and Demonic (false wisdom). I highly recommend this book. Like I said, I started about an hour ago and now on page 41 out of 188. This is an excellent book.

November 20, 2012

Brad is improving his attention span for speech therapy. Before, he wouldn’t make it 5 minutes before melting down or running out the room. Now he sits through the whole session. It is a 30 minute session. What the instructor did was add Sponge Bob videos. For every 3 minutes of work, Brad gets 1 minute of SpongeBob. He is also making the sign for “more” when it’s time for Shannon (his speech pathologist) to play the video. I hope she will add more sessions because I think I have one more left. Brad was scheduled for 8 sessions of speech therapy, I think I done seven.

Kalen started physical therapy on Friday, November 16, 2012. He cried the whole time. He did not like his legs being worked for an hour. The teacher made him walk (with assistance) back and forth between me and her. I love Ms. Sandy. He was so tired, he fell asleep as soon as she started writing her end-of-session notes. After a few sessions, based on Kalen’s improvement, Ms. Sandy will determine if he needs braces. We already did the paperwork. Yay.

The Anger Workbook

I read the Anger Workbook, in exchange for review from Booksneeze.com. The book was wrote by Les Carter and Frank Minirth. The book was also published by Thomas Nelson.

I chose this book because I have anger issues. I have a strong desire to knock people upside the head on a daily basis, not to mention my anger on some unresolved issues, I am working on. Part one of the book talks about identifying your anger. Anger do not always have to be overt or even aggressive. I can be passive aggressive on a lot of issues, irritable, or annoyed. I also will withdraw from people. I am definitely impatient when things do not go as planned. For example, If I need to clean, but have to deal with Brad's meltdowns all day. I am angry because I still have a room/house to clean, but it has to wait until I calm the boy down.

I definitely want to buy the book because I want to write in the exercises provided, such as the anger inventory. A lot of those statements applied to me. The book provides many exercises for people to define their anger, inventory anger, and resolve anger issues.

For example, Minirth and Carter discussed how anger may be prevalent when a person is rejected or invalidated or feels a lack of respect. I also got angry when my needs and wants was not met. I have experienced this type of anger before. The book also has a Christian focus. When I am angry, I need to turn to God, instead of liquor or violence or sex (glad I am celibate now). I also need to admit that I am angry. If I do not resolve my anger, then the cycle of anger continues (diagram in the book. Love it). I am one of those folks, who suppress anger. I need to communicate feelings more often, but I have a distrust in people, in general. The book also says I need to take responsibility for my anger, and not rationalize it. I also need to learn how to forgive others.

I love this book.

Throw away the toys

I am celibate, but I still struggle with sexual thoughts and the occasional pleasure session. I been taking a purity course (way of purity), which is for pornography addiction/sex addiction. I was a sex addict. I was a toy addict. I was a self pleasure addict. The course is taught from a Christian perspective I havent watched porn in a minute, but I want to finish the course. One of the lessons discusses removing things, which will hinder your progress. Delete the phone numbers, block certain websites, throw away anything which will set you back. I have sex toys. I havent used them in a long, long time, but I hate to toss them out. The toys cost me money, well not my actual money. Most of the toys were funded by my former job as a web cam girl. Some of these toys cost between 20 to 40 or more bucks. I am no longer a web cam girl. I no longer have sex. I still hate to throw away the toys.

My rationalization: if i toss the toys, i still have fingers. either way, if i want to do something, i can without having sex. But i need to toss the toys (after removing the batteries, just in case they are still good), in order to move forward in my faith and celibacy progress.

Why I should toss them:
1. part of my old life as a sex addict
2. move forward in Christian fath
3. Part of my old life as a web cam girl
4. I didn't actually have to use my 'real' money to pay for them.
5. represents addiction/addicktion

Why am I holding on to them:
1. good condition. works.
2. still got fingers.
3. cost a lot of money (even though I never saw the money).
4. dont feel like digging for them, out of hiding, to toss them out.
5. laziness.

So I went to the closet, pulled out the rubber maid, found the bag, found some things I forgot I had, and realized this was not the whole collection. Tossed away what I had and hopefully I remember where the rest is. Besides, I dont use them anyway (another rationalization). Yet, I still wanted to hold on to them. Time to let them go. Giving up the old life for a new life.
