Prize Candle Review (TasteMaker Mom)

I received the Prize Candle in exchange for honest review from TasteMaker Mom. No other compensation was provided. All Opinions are my own.

I received the Prize Candle in exchange for honest review from TasteMaker Mom. I been seeing prize candles on other blogs for a while now and was happy to be chosen to finally review one.

The prize candles are made from soy versus traditional wax, so the wax is cool to the touch.

Inside of each candle, there is a jewelry prize. When you burn the candle far enough, you can get some tweezers or your fingers to grab the prize package and open it up.

The package contains a ring and a card, with a code on it. The code can be entered into the website to determine the value of the ring.

Check out the video review of the prize candle. It shows me digging for the candle and then showing me, going to Prize Candle's website to determine the value of the candle. I was highly impatient, but I am going to buy another one in the future and let it burn the correct way. Give the ring away as a gift to someone.

Disclaimer: Ignore the kids in the background. Everyone wanted to see what the prize was. My family crazy

You can buy prize candles on the website. The candles come in different scents. Ring selection is not guaranteed.

I wanted to review the black light because my oldest son still wets the bed. Even though he has waterproof mattress covers, accidents still sometimes slip by.

My niece also suggested I take the black light into the infamous downstairs bathroom, which the men of the house use. Yeah it got bleached quickly and I don't even use that one. I was skeptical about hte light at first, but it does work. I am highly impressed with the results.

Check out the video: It shows me running the black light over Brad's bed, in addition to that nasty bathroom downstairs.

Alpha Hydrox Foaming Facial Cleanser Review (Tomoson)

I received Alpha Hydrox Foaming Facial Cleanser, in exchange for honest review from Tomoson. The foaming wash is a light-scented product, which produces a light foam, when cleaning your face.

I use the product on my face and neck. I been using it daily since I received it. I am almost out. The product is also reasonably priced: under $8. Alpha Hydrox also sells other beauty products and collections on the website.

To use the product, you wet your face, then add the foaming cleaner, let it foam up, and rinse off.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

What about my husband Lord by Mary Turek Book Review (BookLook Bloggers)

This post contains Amazon affiliate links.

I read “What About My Husband, Lord?: Encouragement and Wisdom For Single and Married Women” in exchange for honest review from BookLook Bloggers. The book was written by Mary Turek.

I wanted to review the book because I am newly single-happily divorced. I was separated for 9 years before the divorce papers was filed. 30 days later, divorced.

I have been celibate for almost 4 years and realized sometime this year, I need a husband. I don’t like being single and need some companionship. I also need help with the kiddies.. After going to the Bahamas, this weekend, I realized I needed more support with them. Of course, there is that love thing, I dread. And before love, you have to date.

I have to get past my fears and start dating, in order to find husband #2, the one God has for me.

It took a lot for me to get to this point, where I realized I want to get married again. Can’t believe I am typing that out.

One of the first things, which stood out in the book is allowing God to be your match-maker. I didn’t let God be the match-maker during the first marriage. There was plenty of red flags, but I ignored them because I didn’t want to be alone. I also wanted to prove a few people wrong, who thought I would never get married because I wasn’t feminine enough. I didn’t care for hair or nails or dating, even in high school.

I liked the man, but I am not sure if I truly loved him. Someone on Facebook was saying years ago, how she still had feelings and some sort of love for her ex-husband. I was like, not me. I have no feelings left for the ex.

God was giving me signs, including a dream, I never mentioned to anyone, and I married the man anyway. We met online in September 1998, met in person in January 1999, and married in January 2000, a year to the date we met in person.

I WAS NOT READY TO GET MARRIED AND BE A STEP MOM AT 19. God should have been in control and he was not. Marriage failed and next marriage, I want God to be the lead and not the tail.

Turek discussed how God will show you the (wo)man you will marry, if you just trust and wait on him. She also said when God shows you your mate, a sense of peace come over you, letting you know this is from the Lord versus yourself.

I did not have that sense of peace when I got married.

Turek also provided a few tips, while waiting:
1.     Ask God to guard your heart, so you will know your God-ordained mate, versus the others. Guarding your heart will help protect your feelings and emotions from the wrong ones.
2.     You have to keep your eyes on God in the process
3.     Use wisdom and discernment when telling folks God is your matchmaker. Some people will not understand.

The book also provides wisdom and insight for married women as well. Such as honoring your husband and releasing God’s word over your husband.

Finally, the book provides encouragement for all women, no matter their marital status, such as finding God’s plan for your life.

A Christian Survival Guide by Ed Cyzewski Book Review (Kregel Blog Tours)

This post contains Amazon Affiliate Links.

I read A Christian Survival Guide by Ed Cyzewski, in exchange for honest review from Kregel Blog Tours. The book provides advice on dealing with issues such as addiction to sin; money; and prayer. The book is divided into two sections: Part 1 focuses on Christian beliefs, while Part 2 focuses on Christian practices.

I wanted to read the book because I struggle with my Christian walk and the book provides practical insight on dealing with common Christian issues.

The chapters, which appealed to me are chapter 10: sin addiction; chapter 1: prayer; and Chapter 2: the bible.

One of the first things, which stood out was survival requires planning. Page 13 said "the path to survival isn't just a matter of doing the bare minimum to survive...Christian survival demands that we face the challenges to our faith and learn to rest daily in Christ, our solid foundation."

On page 17, the author gives characteristics of messy and happy Christians and I have fell into both traps.

For the rest of this review, I am going to focus on chapter 10: sin addiction. I have an addictive personality, whether Facebook or a new game or even books. I used to be addicted to sex, prior to my celibacy journey. As a Christian, I knew I shouldn't have premarital or promiscuous sex, but I did it anyway.

The author said people sin and hide behind their justifications and rationalizations, which I know from experience. I didn't feel like I was hurting anyone, but I was hurting myself. My harmless fun had consequences.

The author also provides a chart of the seven deadly sins. I have struggled more with lust, gluttony, anger, slothfulness, envy, and pride. Six of the seven sins. Greed is the seventh.

On page 146: the author provided a chart of the sin survival checklist, which starts with:

Is this a sin?
What are the consequences of this sin?
Do I want to stop?
Do I know how to stop?

I struggled with wanting and knowing how to stop when it came to my sexual sins. The author also provides insight on how to defeat sin on page 150 and sin survival strategies on page 151.

The book was also easy to read and easy to understand.

Finally, this chapter discussed Christian insanity, "doing the same thing over and over again to defeat sin and yet they don't experience the freedom that the scripture promise." (p. 152). I am struggling with insanity for other issues. My methods are not working, but God's will

The book is available in Kindle and paperback format on Amazon. The book is Prime-eligible

Sheer Cover Studio Make-up Review, Demonstration, and Giveaway (Modern Mom Insiders)

I received the Sheer Cover Studio Make-Up Products in exchange for honest review from Modern Mom Insiders.

The make-up kit came with the following:

  • Concealer and Brightener
  • Mascara
  • Lengthening Fibers
  • Mineral Foundation (loose powder form)
  • Facial Conditioner
  • Facial Moisturizer
  • Primer
  • Sun-Kissed Bronzing Minerals
  • Concealer Brush
  • Make-up Brushes

My Review

A few days ago, I received a mystery box in the mail-well two mystery boxes. I couldn't remember what was in the Modern Mom box, but I knew it was something good. I opened up the big box, only to have another mystery box inside.

Once I opened up the package, I was shocked and amazed at the goodies inside. Some of the goodies, I had no idea what they was: Lengthening fibers and brightener. I also did not know what to do with all those make-up brushes.

Luckily, Sheer Cover came with instructions for how to use the products.

  1. Wash your face and dry it.
  2. Tone and moisturize your face
  3. Apply Primer (not in the instructions in the pamphlet, but it's on the primer instructions)
  4. Apply concealer. The concealer pack comes with two concealers, which are close in color, and brightener (white).
  5. Apply Mineral make-up
  6. Apply sun-kissed bronzing minerals. You can apply in certain spots like your cheeks or use it to highlight your eyes, like I did
  7. Apply mascara.
  8. Apply lengthening fibers quickly before mascara dries.
The fibers was interesting because they look like white pieces of cotton, but they help lengthen the look of your lashes.

The moisturizer is not heavy at all, neither is the primer. I also love the concealer. You can mix and match the two colors until you have the perfect shade.

I also liked how the sun-kissed bronzing minerals, which helped brighten my eyes.

I provided a video below of me using the products for the first time.

Giveaway

Modern Mom is hosting a giveaway to win a year supply of Perfect Shade Mineral Foundation make-up. The contest ends in 30 days.

Coco Jack Product Review (DialogoNet)

I received the Coco Jack system in exchange for honest review from DialogoNet.

The Coco Jack system was designed for people to open Young Thai Coconuts with ease. With the system, you can open a hole at the top of the coconut to drain the water and scoop the insides (meat) out. You also can reuse the top back in the coconut.

The Thai Coconut is not the traditional hairy or a mature coconut. The young thai is a hairless, white, smoother coconut.

Benefits of Young Thai Coconuts

You will need to go to a specialty store for a young thai. I also found some online but the prices were expensive.

I made the mistake of buying the wrong coconut at first, but I called around and found out Whole Foods has the Young Thai in stock.

The system comes with 5 pieces:

  1. The mallet, which helps open the coconut
  2. The coco jack, which goes on top of the coconut, then you bang with the mallet to open.
  3. The scoop tool, which helps scoop the coconut meat out
  4. A coco jack for storing coconuts
  5. A coco mat, which helps absorb vibrations while opening the coconut. You place your coconut in the middle of the X on the coco mat.
You also need a bowl for the coconut water, which will come out of the coconut.  I also recommend keeping the CoCo Jack System out of reach from children. The mallet is weighted and can cause damage, if used improperly. My system is hidden in the closet.

Check out the video by Coco Jack on how to use the system. I am also creating a video, which will show the first video, I made using the wrong coconut, in addition to the correct method, using the young Thai Coconut.

Infernal Innovations Ice Ball Molds Review (Tomoson)

This post contains Amazon Affilate links.

I received # 1 Rated Ice Sphere Molds HUGE 64% OFF SALE TODAY ONLY - Set Of 2 Giant 2.5" Ice Ball Molds - Slow-Melting & Stackable Sphere Ice Molds - Perfect For Your Scotch Or Cocktail - Best Ice Ball Makers - Stop Using Those Boring Ice Cubes & Add Some Excitement To Your Party With These Ice Balls!! - Ice Tray Perfect For Water Pitchers, Ice Tea Or Ice Coffee - Lifetime Warranty! in exchange for honest review from Tomoson.

I have seen Ice Ball Molds before, but never used them. Filling the molds was very easy. Removing them was a little difficult. You have to remove the top slowly, then run water along the sides to get the ball to come out. I did break one ball in the process. I also used the balls for juice and wine.

I also included a video demonstration of me taking the ice balls out of the molds. You can purchase the ice ball molds on Amazon. The balls are prime-eligible.

Stylo Phora Sphere Ice Ball Molds Review (Tomoson)

I received Large Deluxe Sphere Ice Molds #1 Premium (Set of 3) - No-Mess Funnel Now Included! Slow Melting Japanese Whiskey Ice Balls to Chill Your Scotch - Create Perfect Ice Spheres - More Fun Than an Old Fashioned Ice Cube Tray - Reusable Mold - Ice Ball Maker - For All Drinks
in exchange for honest review from Tomoson.

I never tried Ice Ball Molds before and was interested. I thought of water balls, juice balls, red wine balls. Two of which, I have tried. The balls was easy to fill with water and easy to freeze. The molds come with a funnel for assistant with filling the balls.

I struggled with getting the balls out of the mold. The first ball dropped to the floor. You have to slowly pull the bottom mold from the ice, then pull the top mold. Be careful though. Nothing like losing a beautiful ball of ice to the floor :-). The second and third try, I had no issues with removing the balls from the molds.

The balls are available on Amazon. The Molds are prime-eligible.

Smelly Washer Cleaner Review (Tomoson)

I received the Smelly Washer Cleaner in exchange for honest review from Tomoson. The Smelly Washer can be used to clean the washing machine from bad smells, such as mold and mildew. The smelly washer cleaner is fine as grains of salt.

I just recently heard of washing machine cleaners. I knew my washing machine had a tub clean function. I tried it a few times with regular detergent.

The smelly washer cleaner follows a similar process. Instead of using detergent, you can use this product to freshen your machine.

Simply add a capful to the wash. Choose the hot water cycle and let the cycle run.

I loved the smell of the Washer after the cycle finished.

Check out the video review below with a demonstration included.

Zero Alternative Book Review (CM Book Tours)

This post contained Amazon Affiliate links.

I reviewed Zero Alternative in exchange for honest review from CM Book Tours. A copy of the book was provided for review. No other compensation was provided. The synopsis, author bio, and social media links was also provided by CM Book tours.

Synopsis:

Framed, hunted, betrayed…
Scott Walker is a fugitive from the quicksands of Finance, with one card to play – DeepShare, a silicon oracle coveted by billionaires, hitmen and hackers. As he fights for survival and vengeance, digging deeper into the dark heart of the global economy, one question torments him: what price will the world have to pay?

ZERO ALTERNATIVE is an action-packed conspiracy thriller that plucks at the base of human nature. When our grip on love, hope and morality starts to slide, the only future worth living is the one we choose for ourselves.

Author Bio:

Luca Pesaro was born in Italy in 1971, but he has spent most of his adult life in the US or UK. Being a proud UWCer, he likes to think of himself as just another random citizen of the world.

After spending a few years gaining a degree (LSE) and masters (Bocconi University) in the pseudo-science that is Economics, he got bored, jumped the gun and became a derivatives trader in financial markets, first with the tragic Lehman Brothers, then with a bunch of other banks, somehow always managing not to blow up. He wrote his first novel in Italian in the mid-nineties, but then decided English worked much better for the type of stuff he liked to read and write, and switched. (Easy to do, he has forgotten most of his written Italian).

Recently he has decided to dedicate himself fully to his great passion since the age of eight – writing, mainly Fiction, but anything that amuses him at any given time. Zero Alternative is his first English novel, and he is hard at work on his second thriller, A Game of Kings.

He is married to the awesome Francesca and they have two children, Asia and Joshua, who always manage to annoy, surprise and delight beyond any reasonable expectation.

My Review

The book is about Scott "Yours" Walker, a financial worker.

I wanted to review the book based on the description. I liek finance even though I don't always understand it. I passed all my finance courses in college because I studied more. I knew math would be my weakness, so I put extra effort into my studies;

I loved reading the book. The book started with Walker a little worried about the Europe financially. China and a few other countries had closed for the day. The book has suspense, action, and moves at a good pace.

Green Virgin Products Soap Nuts Review (Tomoson)

#GVP

I received Soap Nuts Liquid in exchange for honest review from Tomoson. Soap Nuts is a natural laundry detergent and fabric softener. The product does not contain any chemicals and it is hypoallergenic. The soap nuts also can be used as a window cleaner.

Instead of using a pod or detergent, you can use two pumps of soap in an high efficiency washer. For an average top washer, you use 3 pumps per load. My washing machine is a top loader HE machine.

What are Soap Nuts?

According to the website, Soap Nuts are fruit from the Chinese Soap Berry Tree. The berries are dried in the sun. The shell of the berries have cleaning powers similar to detergents with chemicals.

My Review

The soap nuts have a pleasant, light scent. The clothes came out the washer smelling wonderful. I normally use pods, but every now and then use powder or detergent. I wanted to try the soap nuts to determine the difference between what I regularly use and this product.

Check out the demo below.
