Best Healthy Vegan Holiday Recipes by Jonathan Vine Book Review (Tomoson)

I read Best Healthy Vegan Holiday Recipes: Christmas recipes (Quick & Easy Vegan Recipes), in exchange for honest review from Tomoson. The book was written by Jonathan Vine. I love meat, but don't always have to cook with meat, especially when my nephew, the veggie, comes to visit. He is also allergic to wheat. I have to make sure, I cook some veggies without chicken or veggie broth. I also have to make sure my meat utensils don't touch the pot with the veggies.

Vine has wrote a book of vegan recipes for holiday celebrations.

Chapter 1 focuses on Thanksgiving recipes. The Potato Gratin was nice, but I may leave out the cashews. Love them, but they are sometimes too hard for my teeth. I did notice the cashews are soaked overnight and are used in place of cheese. The cranberry stuffed tofu sounds delicious, even though I never ate tofu.

I also liked the Thanksgiving rice, with brown rice, shiitake mushrooms, broccoli, and pumpkin puree. For dessert, the apple crumb cake sounds like a great offering. The recipe uses whole wheat flour and coconut sugar.

Chapter 2 focuses on Christmas Recipes. I liked the broccoli fritters with a garlic dipping sauce. I also liked the sweet potato and black bean curry. Other recipes, which stood out include:

  1. Raisin Red Cabbage Saute
  2. Pumpkin Gingerbread
  3. Roasted Hawaiian Fruits
Chapter 3 focuses on Halloween recipes. The first one, which stood out was spiced stew in a pumpkin. I probably cut back on the amount of spice though. I also liked the Arugula salad with roasted red grapes. Other recipes, which stood out include:

  1. Mushroom balls with Tomato Cranberry sauce
  2. Roasted Tomato and Garlic Soup
  3. Harvest baked pumpkin
Finally, chapter 4 focuses on Easter recipes. Recipes, which stood out include:

  1. Creamy spinach and lemon soup
  2. Roasted asparagus with mustard sauce
  3. Pasta primavera
  4. No crust mushroom quiche
  5. Hummus stuffed vegetables
  6. Chunky bean dip
  7. Raw chocolate fudge
You can purchase the book on Amazon, along with Vine's other cook books.
